Two Flies Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I've a few watches in the collection,if you guys don't get to bored with them. I'll try to post one up a week.I generally like to collect watches from 1900 to the mid 1950's. 1st up is the baby of the collection ,I couldn't resist this one because it was released to commemorate 100 years of flight and 35 years since Buzz Aldrin walked the moon Its a Bulova Accutron eagle pilot Apollo 11, Swiss made tuning fork movement.I like everything about it the ss case the red, white and blue steel hands and Arabic numerals. The split sweep minute hands can be also be synchronised ,I also like the detailed engraved Buzz Aldrin signature backing cap.They are now discontinued, I think there is also a quartz model.
Two Flies Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Watches come and go in the collection. This is one of my all time favourites it's a keeper . An American made 1950's ss Eligin Deluxe shockmaster.It keeps excellent time and is in near mint condition with a lizard skin band, hope you like it.

Nice vintage piece. Biggish crown for a smallish size.
Two Flies Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Thanks Jasper,the American vintage watches typically have a largish crown,I've 7 elgin's and most all of them have bigger crown's.
Two Flies Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Here's another from my collection a 1911 Elgin in rose gold with a porcelain dial.Its still keeps great time. Should have given it a polish.

Guest glakey Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 M series 16610 Submariner. Takes a beating at work under some pretty adverse conditions and has never missed a beat. Would post a pic if I knew how, however most people know what a stainless submariner looks like anyway. Regards, George
nang3 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 very nice watches here gents !!! like that deville Tomee - what year is it?? looks retro yet clean and modern at the same time.. I've got a Raymond Weil Freelancer Day/Date edition.. same as this ;

Two Flies Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Hope you like em. Center watch is a ss 1960 Mavado HS 360 day date Swiss made Kingmatic. Keeps great time. Has some dust around the 6 would clean up easy enough.Love the raised batterns on this. The watches left and right are 1950's Cortebert's, these were commissioned by the Turkish railroad and awarded after 25 years service.Case is rose gold with some brassing, pitting and a few knocks this doesn't worry me to much they were a working mans watch and as such a few battle scars are acceptable to me. The detail of the the dial, hands, and sub minute hand along with the detailed back,really sucked me in ,It was one of those I just gotta have moments, one runs slow the other fast, the lens has popped out on one.Being a railroad watch I think they would run pretty well spot on if I spent a few dollars on them. But audio comes 1st.
chilli nimrod Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 The watch that gets the most wrist time of all my watches is the original Kobold PVD Seal. When in production they made only 10 per year. It is a 1000m w/r, titanium, anti magnetic, Swiss hand made, chunk of beauty.
Two Flies Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 chilli very nice watch, only making 10 a year. Now that's what I call a collector's item.Looks like about 42mm +. Would like to see more of your collection.Cheers mcee
