brownemi Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Knocked this out of some sedimentary rock lying around. Started life as a Lenco 75, then added a PTP5 top plate to the home made slate plinth, Jeremy super bearing, and a MG-1 air arm fitted. 12 inch arm to follow later. Looks real nice and stealthy in the flesh, sounds as sweet as a nut.
Orpheus Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Looks terrific! Looking forward to hearing it. What sort of nut does it sound like??
Guest Muon Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 That's very nice, a good idler with a linear tracking arm, sweet!
Omegaspeedy Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Very nice Michael! I'm confident that table will smoke some very expensive TT's with ease:) Good job. I love my Lenco which isn't anywhere as modified as yours but boy they sound incredible.
soundfan Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Very nice Michael, I was wondering when you were going to post pics of the Lenco. What are your thoughts on the Jeremy Super bearing compared to others you have tried? I'm wondering whether to go the same route, but my Lenco sounds so good at the minute.
jaspert Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Nice work! You are becoming quite the expert in turning the sedimentary rock into something of beauty. Thumbs up....
Grumpy Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Bloody hell I feel so inadequate around here. Great work brown fella
brownemi Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Thanks guys, back breaking but satisfying when you see the end product. Slate is very tactile, it purrs when you run your finger along it- dont know why but it does- serious. I still think the jury is out in comparing a good wood plinth to a slate one with the idlers. My last experiment is going to be an epoxy/carbon/kevlar/nomex/fiberglass/vacuum bagged /oven baked plinth. Ultra strong but very light. From my research it is susposedly very good at dampening and looks hot. It will also test my old boatbuilding skills.
