handy steel
I ordered a Denon DP 57L from Denmark three weeks ago and the new toy arrived today. The table it self arrived in very good condition, unfortunately the perspex cover was not so lucky, the hinge has broken off. The seller packed the TT pretty well but once again it looks like the box had a bit of a rough time during shipping. I will have a new cover made in the near future. But as for the table it self I am very happy.. Here are a few pics of the table prior to its long journey to Australia. handy steel
Ok, I'll consider taking the VPI ............dirty. I bet you would David. But you would first have to pry it out of my cold dead hands, and then fork over a few thousand dollars in the process.

handy steel
Grumpy, as far as I am aware it is the standard plinth. The high gloss wood veneer finish does look fantastic.

lebowski
that is one fine looking TT you have there handy. The plinth does look very similar to the Pioneer PL-30/50L.

Only a few thousand Mark? That would be a bargain. Negotiations shall take place. dirty.

Dr Good Vibe
Looks very nice, have you had enough time yet to talk about the difference between the two, sound wise ?
handy steel
Dr GV, I have not directly compared them together, as the VPI has a Denon MC 103R cart fitted and the Denon 57L has an Amber Europa MM cart fitted. But I have played the Denon 57L through both a Cambridge 540P and a Slee Era Gold V phono amp. The Denon sounded a little flat and closed in using the Cambridge 540P, but it really came to life when I connected the Slee Era Gold. I will do a direct comparison at a later date. handy steel
Adding some new photo's taken this morning, that really show up the high gloss on the plinth. You can see where I have glued the broken hinge back on in the two last pictures. Edited March 4, 2012 by handysteel

Dustin
Looking good Handy . . congratulations. I acquired one of these 'flying saucers' (just the motor unit) recently and am looking for plinth ideas. Yours looks brilliant, I must say.
handy steel
Thank's for the comments gent's. Dustin what model did you pick up?
Dustin
Got a DP-75 in the end but still have to finalise the arm, cartridge etc. . . . plus all the other bits needed for a 'motor only' unit. Getting some inspiration with yours, though. http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/showthread.php/42845-The-Denon-bug?p=662699#post662699
handy steel
I remember the link now, a very nice table. Mine is a 240 V 50/60 Hz European model, and as with yours it starts and locks in the speed very fast. The manual states that it works at either 50/60Hz so I would presume yours is the same? I have purchased an Australian to European power adaptor rather than change the lead at this stage. I am looking forward to see pictures of your table and chosen arm in it's finished state. Cheers:
Dustin
Yes, a European model should have all the power variations built in except for the plug, I expect. Mine is a Japanese domestic version I believe, so it's 100V but does have a switch for either 50 or 60Hz. As I understand it, Japan has both 50 and 60Hz power depending on region . . which must be slightly diabolical, I'd have thought. 'turntable' suggested the step-down power supply which works just fine. Now I suppose I should order those router bits and get my act together. Cheers, Gavin
