Ch8 finally showing some Widescreen (shot in HD but broadcast in 576i) stuff....

Recommended Posts

Looks like the Ch8 logo and the subtitles are in the wrong aspect ratio for now.

But how do you know if this was shot in HD?

16:9 576i is actually common in cameras for quite a long time. Just never used.

when you buy a new Ferrari, you will not want to drive the old 7 series to speed.....

I thought the whole image was on wrong aspect ratio last night. The "stick" figures are too thin.  ???

Edit: Anyway I was viewing with scv set top box (older digital box with widescreen enabled in setup)

Huh?

I mean, do we know for sure this was shot in HD?

Because widescreen don't necessarily mean it's HD.

SD Widescreen Cameras has been around for a long time.

Likewise, a HD 720p or 1080i camera is also capable of shooting in SD 576i or ED 576p.

Either way, I'm glad to see widescreen broadcast is starting to populate in Singapore. :)

I assume we must use a HD setup box to view the HD channel la. Any idea where to buy one w/o subscribing to Starhub?

You can buy a digital tuner at Best Denki, Harvey Norman, Courts, etc.

But expect to spend around $500 plus. =\
