composition Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Other than the Benchmark and the Bel Canto are there any other brands that offer an integrated DAC plus preamplifier?

rahul Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 In your experience, how different is the DA11 from DAC1? I havent done a direct comparison. Heard them in different setups, so hard to define the categorically state the sonic signature of just these DACs. IMO different setups will highlight more the character of amps and speakers. But the person from whom I bought my Lavry had originally tried the Benchmark on his Accuphase+Thiel setup. His view was that Benchmark was too refined and lifeless for his setup. Lavry added more body to the sound. After an year he sold Lavry and got an Accuphase CD player for better system synergy.... Best to test in your own system.
IwishIwasToneDeaf Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Other than the Benchmark and the Bel Canto are there any other brands that offer an integrated DAC plus preamplifier? When you mean pre amp, would a dac with volume control (headphone amp) be enough? If so, there would be many options like Beresford 7520, Red Wine Audio Isabellina, etc. ;)

And also I need one that has balanced output just like the Benchmark and Bel Canto. However, the Bel Canto and Benchmark is abit on the high side $$, so I am looking for alternatives
HoSaybo Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Meier audio carda stage dac. slightly over 1K I think
twlmad Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Hi, Where can we find Meier products in Singapore? Keen on the stage dac too, thanks.

A headphone amp (with volume control) with built in DAC acts as a pre-amp as well. And yes you can connect it direct to the power amp. Just opening you up to more options especially when you say Benchmark and Bel Canto above your budget ;)
