SubWoofer cable length

Featured Replies

Hi

I am going to experiment placing my SW next to my listening position which is approximately 32 ft (not direct route) of cable length required! Read in Hsu research website that placement at that position may provide better upper bass impact.

Just like to check with experts will this 'long' run affect signal (performance) in any way!  ??? Want to find out expert opinions before forking out some $ for the cables.

Btw, how much is a budget mono-RCA interconnect, wif a splitter, of about 30 ft long?

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers

When you placed order for any of their subs they offer to sell you a 20ft length of interconnect cable to go with your purchase. So not sure whether that's an indication of the max cable length. Think you would get a better response if you enquire from them directly. They seemed very responsive and helpful too.

Hi Vink

Thks for your reply. Oh I'm not buying from Hsu. Way over my very pathetic budget!  :-[

Hv a Wharfedale 10". Just want to experiment around.  :)

Cheers

try with some cheap cable first la

Subwoofer placement and setting (vol, x-over, phase) give much greater effect than cable quality/length. 32ft is not so bad. You can try 'direct route' first if you have cable laying around.

Ok

Many thks

Belden 1694 is rather stiff, it maybe difficult to put in a trunking with tight bend. If it is for your LFE channel, you can just get 5m thicker Daiyo interconnect available in many places, split the cable to 10m and get a connector to join.

Ok thks. Will explore this option.

You can also buy canare cable for the sub, I think it is more flexible than the belden 1694a and equivalent as good.

Sound expensive. But I'll have a look see.  :)

Thks & Cheers

If I am not wrong, it should be $3 to $4 per meter, the model I got last time should be L5CFB, not sure they still have it or not.
