Time to sell my SD DVD boxset!  ;D

Oh so tempting!  I told myself to resist double-dipping too many BD releases of SD DVDs that I already own, but this one I might not be able to...

I've managed to resist buying the previous BOB set, because I knew (a) there'd be a better version eventually and (b) I have more TV series sets to watch than I have time.

Looks like it's time to buy...

I have the VCD, DVD and I will still consider the BR. This movie and Saving Pte Ryan is too close to heart... My NS days are made of this and Black Hawk Down... I felt like crying when I saw the landing craft get sprayed by gun fire. Reminds me of a certain training incident.

The 2nd part where Lt Winters flanks the guns was a classic move still being emulated today. In a good surround system, you can hear his heart and feel him moving.

My NS days have not ended...

Trying not to end up in SCSC.

Anyway, I showed the wars movies before our assessment previously and my men went on to win best unit. Twice.

Thats why we won. After watching, their time taken to take cover and conceal themselves was halved.

Took only half the time to assault the hill and get off the chopper.

Even my medic was so tactical... I had the entire medical platoon up to the MO all camouflaged... We were so well hidden the umpires had trouble locating us...

("From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered - We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother...."),

You are good.... but try not to show to many bloody part of the movie.... hahaha

when I first saw the beach landing in Saving Pte Ryan, I was thinking "Lucky my vocation is not a Marine"...

when I first saw the para drop in 'Day of Days', I was horrified.. why jump school did not have the sort of realism..

we were only concern with

1) Good punch out..

2) Main chute opens..

3) Reserve works if main c*cks up..

4) Find a good spot to do your "push, turn and roll over"..

Definitely a must-get in BD.. though the player is still in the shops..

most of them who signed up to be paratroopers had no idea what they are in for. they were attracted to it because it was paying a few dollars more

Yeah, that's my 1st thought when I read warmasterhorus11's comments too! haha. The veterans said it themselves before the show started.. But still, bravo to them!

Undestand the original version is in Black and white.

Will the BR version be similar - Black&White only?

???  The original was not B&W.  Certain episodes and certain scenes were shot with a rather washed-out look to them that starts to look a bit like B&W, but they were most certainly still in colour.  This is most obvious with the final episode, where artistically they did not 'wash-out' the colour any longer, and everything is vibrant, to reflect the changing mood amongst the troops after victory in Europe was achieved.
