It's a tough assignment for Pool at the Bridge with PC in top form.  He is the best goalie in the world, period.  Nevertheless, I am sure Pool will give it all their best and I am betting they will nick it this time........... :)

hmm, all quiet on the united front.

any Barca fans? :)

Not worried. 1-1 would've been a better result to bring home to OT, if not a win, but I'm confident United will beat Barca and go through.

United were very conservative last night, because of Vidic's last minute illness. Owen Hargreaves was forced to play right back, instead of bringing his power and workrate to the midfield. But Barca played their best, and were given lots of possession by United, yet they never really threatened and United were mostly comfortable.

OT will be different. While any goal by Barca means United must win, but if United cannot beat Barca at OT in a must-win game, then why bother talking about being European champions?

To be the best, you have to beat the best and the rest.

I do not understand why Barca never introduce Henry earlier ? cause he just recovered from fever?

This man does know MU and English games for sure, he already tormented MU's defense within his few mins of introduction. I guess he will play an important role at Old Trafford next week.

Tks YH for posting on my behalf.... ;D.  I was right about Fergie fielding Scholes rather than Anderson (experience over youth) and glad that he did not include Giggs, otherwise, it will be 1-0 to Barca.  Think they have good chance of going thru' at OT provided he ..........you know what I am going say......... ;D

I've a theory why Ron missed the penalty. He must've been preening his greasy hairdo before coming out of the dressing room and it being a 2nd minute penalty, he inadvertently transferred some tancho from hair to ball which would explain the swerve on the spotkick. QED

Is it me or does everybody notice he's strutting around like a peacock on the pitch, I think he's full of it and its not grease.

you gotta love the fans' general responses to their respective teams... be it own goal, missed peno, total silence from the blues (whom you might think would be fairly ecstatic at a gifted away goal)...  ;D

There are blues fans here?

has been a long Utd fan since my boyhood days but getting more n more irritated by his 'pattern' as days get by.yes he may b good with his ball dribbling skills and all the goals, but in my opinion,(may b wrong though)he's no near to wayne rooney. rooney will always give his 100% whenever he is on the field. i also hope that alex ferguson will cash it on him now and replace him with someone who have the same ability or lesser, but not as 'pattern'as him.anyway i also feel that ronaldo when it comes to a big match,he seems lost...my personal feeling only, hope it dont upset the man utd fans.

    Leading Champions League 07-08 scorers:

Manchester United: Cristiano Ronaldo 7, Wayne Rooney 4,

Carlos Tevez 4, Gerard Pique 2

Barcelona: Lionel Messi 6, Thierry Henry 3

    * Manchester United should start as favourites with a record

of winning their last 11 successive Champions League home games,

scoring 29 goals and conceding seven.

    * United have lost only two of 16 home games against Spanish

sides, both in the Champions League quarter-finals and both by a

3-2 score - against Real Madrid in 2000 and Deportivo Coruna two

years later.

    * However, United, unbeaten in all 11 CL games this season,

have a disappointing record in European semi-finals at Old

Trafford, winning just once on six such games since 1969. They

include four scoring draws and a home defeat to Borussia

Dortmund in 1997. The only victory was a 3-2 win over AC Milan

last season after losing the first leg 3-0.

    * Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 12 CL games of which

they have won nine. They have also kept clean sheets in nine of

those matches.

    * Barcelona have played an astonishing 26 away games in

England before and have won four of the last six in the CL, two

over Liverpool and one each against Chelsea and Newcastle

United.

    * A repeat of either of Barcelona's two previous Champions

League away games in Manchester would suffice for the Spaniards

to reach the final - they drew 2-2 in 1995 and 3-3 in 1999.

    Playing on Wednesday (1845)

    CHELSEA v LIVERPOOL

    Leading Champions League 07-08 scorers:

Chelsea:  Didier Drogba 4, Michael Ballack 2, Joe Cole 2,

Frank Lampard 2

Liverpool: Steven Gerrard 6, Fernando Torres 5, Dirk Kuyt 5,

Ryan Babel 4, Yossi Benayoun 3, Peter Crouch 3

    * Chelsea, who would reach their first European Cup or

Champions League final simply by not conceding a goal, have a

promising record of 12 clean sheets in their last 16 Champions

League home games, including all the last four.

    * Chelsea have not lost any of their previous eight European

semi-final home games, winning five and drawing three - the 0-0

with Liverpool three years ago, a 2-2 draw with Monaco the

previous year in the CL and a 1-1 with Real Mallorca in the 1999

Cup Winners Cup.

    * In five previous European home games against

fellow-English teams, Chelsea have conceded only one goal -

against Arsenal in a 1-1 draw in the 2004 quarter-finals.

    * Liverpool, who have to score to have a chance of reaching

their third final in four years, have netted in nine of their

last 10 Champions League away games. The only exception was

against Chelsea, of all teams, last season.

    * Liverpool are unbeaten in their last eight CL games in

which they have scored 25 goals and conceded only five.

    * Despite their excellent record of advancing to the final

from 11 of their 14 European semi-finals, Liverpool have not

scored an away goal in a semi-final since 1985 when they beat

Panathinaikos 1-0 in Athens in the European Cup. They have

failed to score in all four games since, including twice at

Chelsea.

seeing as they managed to keep their home record intact against Man U, Chelsea are firm favourites

Agree. The Blues' morale & confidence will be high after the win against MU last sat. Then again like one of the Reds players (was it Stevie G?) said when asked abt Pool's record at Stamford Bridge "...well that's before we have Torres right?". So hopefully Torres will be on song this wed, score a goal & break the jinx (since records are there to be broken right?)! And to dream further, Riise makes amends for his woeful own goal and seal the victory by scoring the crucial 2nd goal....with a header/right leg. ;D
