I have bought my this budget yamaha AVR RX V340 for quite sometime already but i have always been wondering if i have set up my audio for the receiver properly.

I have a normal enzer dvd player and i connect my dvd player to my receiver using the normal RCA cables. Meaning the red and white ones for my audio. After connecting up my player to my receiver then to my TV so i played some movies.. This is my question for all the yammy gurus out there..

This picture is what i get for my status screen.. is it correct?? Am i getting the dolby digital sound from the discs that come with dolby digital ?

and how come the screen only shows L and R speakers even though i am getting sound from all speakers.. I am using satellites with a Sub.

The sound is coming out from all speakers and everything seems ok.. its just that i wanna know if i am getting the right sound out from my system.

Bro you are only feeding your amp 2 channels and the amp is making up the rest using the DSPs.

Use a digital out from your Enzer. Either coaxial (which looks like the RCA socket) or a optical out (usually comes with a plastic covering shield)

Alright done !

just realised that my amp only has optical for digital dvd input and 1 coax input which is only for CDs... sian..

had to go buy a optical cable.. $$$

Connected up my Player to my amp thru optical cables.. finally getting the true 5.1 sound .
