Hi guys

Kindly recommend some good & sturdy 2.0/2.1 speakers for my iBook/iMac.

Used mostly for internet radio & watching movies/tv series.

Please state price if you know how much they cost.

Cheers.

I certainly don't have budget for Bose PC speakers (oops, shouldn't mention Bose :) )

Maybe anything that is less than $400.

yes, SC's recommendation is a good one

i find Altec Lansing PC speakers very musical, which is suited if you use

yr PC to listen to radio, can also chk them out.

Logitech n Sonic Gears also make some pretty decent ones.

$400 is a very good budget, spend some time at Sim Lim or Funan to do some audition.

its yr ears so u must like what u hear.  sound is rather subjective,  ;)

I third the recommendation.  I am using the Aego now with my Mac Mini................. :D

Seems like Aego M is a popular choice :)

How is Aego M for watching movies/series?

How big is the M? Space is a premium so I need something with small footprints.

Any commends on the Klipsch 2.1?

Add another 3 mini Aegos and you will have a 5.1 that can rival any HTIB in the room........... :D

My mum is using the Aego as HT. I have a set for easy listening (now unused put in corner).

Last time we bought only for S$299. Once it dropped for S$199 only, bargain of the lifetime!

I believe it came out about 12 years ago for S$799? (and note that time the $$ is "bigger"!). That time still playing LDs and Dolby Pro Logic!  ;D

Can try the Audioengine 5 , I believe they are sold at one of the hifi shops at Bukit Timah. If bass is important these babies will make you jump out of your skin. Two useful features are its got a usb socket for charging your mp4 device and also a two flat pin 240V socket at the back which is good for plugging in the apple thingy to receive wireless music from your mac (also good for charging iphone).

I have a pair of these, bought them cheap from the old distributor. Played them thru my turntable and phono stage, really surprised at the quality.

yea it was originally $799 ... I thought "whoa! PC audio for audiophools" The Aego-2 went down to $199 before being phased out

Considering the price of a Creative T40 is $250 ... $400 for well reviewed 2.1 kit that is also Acoustic-Energy branded is reasonable.

Another kit I'm using is the Cambridge SoundWorks PC-Works. Great sound for SG$60

Thinks its way out of my price range.

The creative T40 and that JBL Creature plastic stuff cannot make it lar. Actually i prefer this $299 AE than those expensive Bose stuff for PC (which probably appeals to those IPOD crowd who thinking nothing of spending so much for so little hardware/quality). Unfortunately now its $399, i don't really think there is any "upgrade" to the sound neither.

Actually it dropped to S$199, but rose back to $299 as they were really underpricing it.

The best thing is that the satellites is small (thus pushing the resonance point way up), and also it is made of a metal alloy or something. Literally no resonance for the mids.
