2100 Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I think some of you might have seen my recommendation of doing up a speaker with prosound coax drivers for either Hifi or Home Theatre. Well now you don't have to, and apparently the drivers used cost about usd400 alone (believe they are Beymas). The speaker retails for usd799. It is the JTR Triple 8. http://www.jtrspeakers.com/triple8.html User review (note - take with a grain of salt, might be biased as dealer is in the thread) http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=907823 http://www.thesoundbroker.com/JTR.htm I would not exactly recommend the 12s, instead just get a good subwoofer which can keep up like the Danley TH-112 which is good enough for Audio (or TH-50 if you are crazy). Or for Home Theatre, get the Danley TH-50 or DTS-20, and feel free to augment with a JTR Growler. There are pro amps with built in low pass xover, or get a dedicated xover + power amp. http://www.danleysoundlabs.com/tapped_horn.html I have 2 Beyma tweeters in use now (the Beyma woofer box still no time to do up), they do deliver the goods very well, you can save yourself a whole bunch of money in both Audio and Home Theatre arenas. Fancy the JBL Everest system in your HT? This can go lower, louder and nearly on par in fidelity. Take advantage of the weak USD! NB - Actually Beyma is like the Spanish equivalent of Jepun JBL.
2100 Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 PS. The SPL specs are 2pi groundplane out in the field measurements. The typical hifi subwoofer review is done in room, so expect room gain of anything from +8dB to +12dB. That means very loud and dynamic buddy.
