Heng Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 what's this for bro? ??? Gel to secure your valuables during earthquake... ;D
Spunky Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 is this some gel sheet or a package with liquid gel inside?
mikeang88 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 is this some gel sheet or a package with liquid gel inside? gel sheet.. not liquid inside.. if it is liquid, we all will be really worried about leakage.
hotbird Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Gutwire used to sell vibration dampers' called Notepads that contained gel. But product was pulled out 'coz got lots of complaints about gel drying up after a while. Perhaps they are also Daiso gel inside http://www.gutwire.com/notepad.htm
cn9601 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Hi, domho8. It looks pretty small. For CDP, does tat mean u need 4x, ie. 1 to be placed at each leg ??? Or can it be 'custom' cut ::) This is how it looks like. Bought at IMM. ;D ;D
SiriuslyCold Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 one $2 pack of gel has 4 pcs just fits CDP feet nicely thats right 50c each.
mikeang88 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 one $2 pack of gel has 4 pcs just fits CDP feet nicely thats right 50c each. one pack only 2 pcs.. not 4 leh
SiriuslyCold Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 huh?? the one i bought had 4 pcs x 1½ inch square maybe the one you got is bigger, or the price has gone up
Hitokiri_Battousai Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 If this gel is anything like or is sorbothane, which is like what some have posted (door stoppers/bumpers, audioquest or other brand of pads), it does work but don't expect miracles since the gel does reacts slower than some other commercial branded isolation devices. If I recall correctly, years back when I tried sorbothane products, it bloated and slurred the music presentation (in comparison to other isolation devices). However, the sorbothane footers I've tried are somewhat thicker and not as 'gel-like' compared to daiso's offering, but they did yield improvements over stock feet. BUT...for $2, it's worth it and a no-brainer to try out, especially when there is improvement over stock equipment feet! Must say that the price is really cheap at $0.50 per pc.
Hitokiri_Battousai Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 one pack only 2 pcs.. not 4 leh I saw the 4pc one as well..what is the size of the 2pc ones?
petetherock Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Guys any chance you can give me the exact address for this stuff? I have a few ideas on using it. Thanks
SiriuslyCold Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Daiso is at IMM, Plaza Singapura and Vivo City (well forget Vivo City, mike wiped them out) click on the flag on the website
zermat Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Granvision Electronics, 4th floor The Adelphi, also has them at $2 per pack of 4.
petetherock Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Thanks to SC, I found this at Daiso IMM The place is awesome and you can end up with more than you bargain... like me! Bought 10 packs, and you can find whats left a couple of shelves into the DIY section, or ask "Rini" who knows where everything is, and I mean everything! I also bought some cutey heart and triangle shaped gel which are smaller and maybe be more useful for items needing a smaller footprint.
redryder Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Just left daiso. Bought 5 packs. Also got a pack of vibration absorbing cork pads to compare.
domho8 Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 Hi, domho8. It looks pretty small. For CDP, does tat mean u need 4x, ie. 1 to be placed at each leg ??? Or can it be 'custom' cut ::) No need cut, just apply on all 4 sides of the CDP. Gd luck. Go hoot some. ;D ;D
2100 Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Actually, cork sheets in various thicknesses and sizes can be found at Art Friend, Bras Basah. MUCH MUCH cheaper too, and more versatile sizings and thickness. Speaker DIYers commonly use this as driver gaskets to seal the driver to the box to prevent air leakage. Its good that someone brought up the gel and cock. ;D Do not be an audiofool and waste $$.
mikeang88 Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 silly me.. didn't occur to me to cut... just bought 4 packs of 2 pieces each and use 2 packs per device... :P why am i so blurr! No need cut, just apply on all 4 sides of the CDP. Gd luck. Go hoot some. ;D ;D
cn9601 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Was looking for those bought by domho8 yesterday @ Daiso Plaza Spura. Couldnt find - and the girls catch no ball of what I am looking for.... :-[ Anyway, managed to buy 2 packs of tis: also, bought similar 1 pack of tis, but it's square-lish ones. And I have the above ones rest on tis - double anti-vibration and shock for my entry-level CDP ;D So far, yet to HEAR any difference :-\
