asianboy Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 hard to believe it because i can see better quality in pic compared to other players.
dmateo Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 reivew is a review, no matter what they say, taste is always a subjective matter....:D
annapurna Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 hard to believe it because i can see better quality in pic compared to other players. It is definitely better than my Toshiba DVD player. Maybe my Toshiba player is too low end to use as a comparision!
Guest tonytakitani Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 How strange. For the past year most of us here thought the PS3 was an excellent upconverting dvd player, and some even thought it was better than a Realta/Reon equipped player. http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=45700.0 So thanks to this single hometheatrehifi review, its now a "lousy SD DVD player".
Phil1624705739 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 So thanks to this single hometheatrehifi review, its now a "lousy SD DVD player". Probably the PS3 failed to pass the HQV benchmarks. Phil
Doggie Howser Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Have always maintained that the Reon gave a much smoother film-like picture but the PS3 is definitely sharp. Perhaps that sharpness has skewed the "perception" of how good it was. A proper barrage of tests will see how it handles cadence transitions etc.
neojevon666666 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 How come when i used F81 samsung lcd plus update ps3 to ver 2.1 yet the picture is so smooth and great visual?i strongly support ps3 than all the rest blu ray player.
Doggie Howser Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 How come when i used F81 samsung lcd plus update ps3 to ver 2.1 yet the picture is so smooth and great visual?i strongly support ps3 than all the rest blu ray player. The smoothness could be artificially enhanced by the F81. Doesn't it have some "interpolation" Movieplus/100-120Hz mode The tests don't lie.
Darthfunk Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Probably the PS3 failed to pass the HQV benchmarks. Phil Most likely they would have use the HQV benchmark test.
Doggie Howser Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Most likely they would have use the HQV benchmark test. Not entirely true. Didn't the Oppo get 100 marks? And it used a Sigma+ABT combo
Darthfunk Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Not entirely true. Didn't the Oppo get 100 marks? And it used a Sigma+ABT combo DH iam talking about benchmark test http://www.hqv.com/benchmark.cfm http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/forum/showthread.php?p=22055
Doggie Howser Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Both tests were conducted by Kris Deering for the same mag, no? http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cd-dvd-player-product-reviews/dvd-players/oppo-digital-dv-983h-dvd-player---a-secrets-dvd-benchmark-review.html MPEG Decoder: Mediatek 1389/S De-interlacer: Anchor Bay Technology ABT-102 My bad, I got yr point. :P Sorry
DizzyD1624705734 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 between oppo980 and ps3...oppo980 is clearly the winner with my own eyes...no hqv test involved.
oneneo Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Upscaling of SD R3 DVD on the PS3 looks as good as my Panasonic S52 (by no means a top end player). (DVD used was King Kong) But who cares, the future is in Blu-ray ;D
