hifi_enthusiast Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Hi guys, I'm looking to purchase an inexpensive 42" plasma. I know some time back Panasonic were clearing their stocks of their 1024x768 models. I'm wondering what the situation is now as I'm out of touch. Are shops still selling these low-res plasmas and the current price - can let me know branch/shop if you have the info... thanks! More as a spare TV for guests and their children to watch and maybe use xbox.
imbest Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 some $1k odd 480p plasma from BD I saw.... or you can consider Palladine?
synthesis1624705793 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 LG is your best bet. It should be under 2k.

petetherock Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Go to Hong Liang / Merdeka for more branded ones, NTUC / Giant ? carrefour for the cheap and cheerful ones IMO I would go too cheap, a PV70 or 7 is as low as I would go, or a Samsung at least Cheers
ekardo Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 not sure still have hitachi 9500... it was around 2k 4 months ago... now should be much cheaper...enjoying it for my PS3 now...shoik..
hifi_enthusiast Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 thanks for the info guys. I prefer branded ones which seem to have better noise reduction abilities and give better quality 480p output. From the demos I've seen (and have read a lot of similar posts), the cheap brands - Palladine/Amoi, have poor 480p output probably because their signal processing/noise reduction unit not as good as the branded ones.
Guest memoir_acoustics Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hitcachi 42A01, http://www.hitachiconsumer.com/sg/products/proddetails.aspx?pid=2262&cid=107&tid=629 Enjoy
roaringflamer Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 just bought. pv70 42 inch at 1999 from audio house. they also having promotion for LG 10 sets, still got some left. 42 inch 1024x768 quality not too bad also at 1600, or so the guy quoted me
imbest Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 LG color requires proper calibration, if not it's over-saturated. And the 1% minimum overscan make the whole picture a bit stretched if you notice.....
roaringflamer Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 yeah that one i would agree. but for a budget 42 inch plasma, its quite a steal with their offer at that pricing yup. together with $200 voucher, it would make it around 1400 bucks
imbest Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 then just go for it lar. LG is actually very good panel. Just that they didn't have full HD panel that time. If not I may consider seriously.
roaringflamer Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 haha im not the one buying, ts is haha happy with my pv70 liao ;)
