darthlaker Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 went to hardly normal (harvey norman) the other day to ask for the price for pioneers 2 top of the range plasmas....(LX508G and LX608H)..... i almost choked when they told me about 13K for the 50' and 18K for the 60'.... are they serious? or is it pioneer that has jacked the price up..... this is double what you can get similar spec'd plasmas for..... anyone know where to get them cheaper and how much???
imbest Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 if super super dark black is not your fetish, can consider Samsung P9 for glossy full HD panel, PY700 for matt finish full HD panel. if not, just pay for the price and finance their little growth plant lor.....smaller production plant, ish bohbianz.....confirm higher cost, and end up higher price, no doubt their quality is THE bEst..... -from iMbEst.....
Guest tsunami1624705885 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 those are full hd. if u have a smaller budget, get the hd ready sets from pioneers. sure no regrets. went to hardly normal (harvey norman) the other day to ask for the price for pioneers 2 top of the range plasmas....(LX508G and LX608H)..... i almost choked when they told me about 13K for the 50' and 18K for the 60'.... are they serious? or is it pioneer that has jacked the price up..... this is double what you can get similar spec'd plasmas for..... anyone know where to get them cheaper and how much???
ruby1624705883 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Pioneer has ridiculusly priced full hd versions, LX508G and LX608H. Surely, the price will drop with Samsung, Panasonic and Hitachi now has full HD plasma models too (and they have priced them a lot cheaper than Pioneer). I think may wait one or two years if wanna get LX508G and LX608H. Else get Pioneer PDP508XG (hd ready version) now which costs around $6k now.
tsammyc Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Unfortunately, neither the Samsung, Panasonic, Hitachi or 508XG come close to the LX series in picture quality and contrast
imbest Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Unfortunately, neither the Samsung, Panasonic, Hitachi or 508XG come close to the LX series in picture quality and contrast this one is debatable, subject to personal preference. I personally find that the image of Pioneer is blur.....most of the time. However, it could be due to the poor set up at most shopfront.... I dun see a fair comparison YET, may need to organize a party to have a fair comparison among all the full HD panels, ALL connect to the same source, same quality cable, everything the SAME, and we need optimal calibration for all the panels too. If some shops or manufacturers could sponsor this event, then it will be good. Moving around all the 50" panels is no joke.....
tsammyc Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 There are some reviews on ultimateavmag.com
darthlaker Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 From what I have read, these 2 plasmas are the best flat display on the market....but the price is crazy!!! They are double the price of other plasmas and they are not double as good..... Good luck to Pioneer in Singapore is all I can say!!
imbest Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 u dun need to drive a ferrari to run on Orchard road...unless you just want to haolian :D
Phil1624705739 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 u dun need to drive a ferrari to run on Orchard road...unless you just want to haolian :D Showing off is one thing, seeking out beautiful PQ and deep black is another. If you can afford the money, why not? The way you write reminds me of Redders in HT sub forum. Please be mindful of others especially when we have at lease one member who owns this expensive panel. Phil My my saying a $13K-18K blur and cannot compare to his P9 is way out of line. Can't stand his nosense this few weeks.
imbest Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 well, if you can afford, why not? I'm not saying TS can't afford, but he's obviously not very happy about paying such a premium for the BEST panel mah.

I beg your pardon but I believe most of us interpreted your reply as "buying expensive equipment just to show off or haolian". Phil
carhorn Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Lets us all enjoy and respect the choices we and they make. Else one day when we run out of hardware to compare, we may have to start comparing our wives/gfs/mistresses/sex partners etc etc ;D Anyway, I used to drive a very fast 2 door angmoh car up and down orchard road. To be honest, I'm not being haolian. I'm just trying to get some chicks into my car! :P Seriously, the full HD panel from Pioneer is more shiok-a-doodoo as compared to other similar makes. While it's not exactly VFM, they seem to deliver much 'darker' blacks (sic) and clearer shadow details in HD in my opinion. Again $$ saved from getting PY-700 instead of LX508 can go to more toys.
