hkail Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Have anyone bought the above ? How's the sound quality ? I think it is priced at $50-$60++. Read somewhere that this is only part 1 of 6. So, be prepared to spend $300_ for the whole set. By the way, saw it being advertised in the Toastbox outlets. Not sure why? maybe because of the song Kopi-O by Eric Moo?
civicguy Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I bought the liang wen fu one and think enough Xinyao for a while ;D
batdance Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Read this review of the collection. http://singaporecritic.blogspot.com/2007/11/new-xinyao-collection.html
hkail Posted December 26, 2007 Author Posted December 26, 2007 Bought it at $62.50, Visma (near Outram mrt). Should be cheapest in town. For those who are still hesitating due to the hefty price tag, note that the set comes with 5 Toastbox coupons, exchangeable for 5 cups of kopi/tea, worth abt $1.50 ea. So, it works out to be $55 for the 4 CDs, a worthy price to pay to bring back the good memories of yesterday. CD quality-wise is okay for a non-audiophile like moi. As mentioned in the review, some tracks sound the same. The packaging, all in black, is rather "high class" for a local set. I suppose it has to be like that when it is tagged as an "audiophilic" product. Not that kind of "4 cds for the price of 1" thingy. So, dun wait till the set goes out-of-print or what. Go grab one and wait for the subsequent releases. :D
civicguy Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 bought this. the black covers so easily get my finger prints all over ! :)
