tsammyc Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 And in the premium finishes Oak and Maple. In fact black is USD200 more.... Note also that the PB12+/2 is on clearance at $1,099 for any finish, but they are sold out of Piano Gloss and Rosenut http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-plus1.cfm
tsammyc Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 Note that for the PB-12+/2, it is being discontinued in favour of the new PB13+Ultra. I suppose they were similarly priced, yet it probably cost significantly more to make a PB-12+/2 as the 13 woofer went into high production. The Ultra probably has higher SQ than the12+/2, but at 150 watts less output, the 12+/2 is probably louder. Woofer surface area of the 12+/2 is greater, while the 13 has deeper cone extension. 3.) PB12-Plus/2: Closeout! Save as much as $500 on units in stock, and now to be cleared from our burgeoning inventory entirely. One of the best subwoofers in the world for under $5,000 is on its way out. Largely replaced by its similarly-sized PB13-Ultra sibling, the Plus/2 has been a veteran of our lines for several years and recipient of more accolades than virtually any other sub in this affordable class. if you have always lusted after two PB12-Plus/2 subs for your large room (and need a mate for one you have), now is your time. Prices will never be lower, and when they are gone, they are likely gone forever. Classic SVS lines, Ohio-built quality and brutally powerful, achingly accurate bass simply doesn't get less expensive, and it's rarely as good even if you are considering spending $5,000 somewhere else. Now all finishes, are only $1,099, while supplies last. They're genuine bargains even at twice that price.
Yeek Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Cool! I think we can even buy 1 at US$799, no need to buy in pairs......I don't mind the oak or maple one as a table top cum extra sub next to my seat......so tempted man! Yeek
clitang Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 HI Can anyone let me know how to order? It is through the SVS web? Thank you
khewa Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 HI Can anyone let me know how to order? It is through the SVS web? Thank you the shipping costs is going to be high for a sub of that weight, that plus the insurance.
tsammyc Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 Shipping to your door should be about $250 or less Edit: Sorry forgot to put in US$
Quest88 Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Shipping to your door should be about $250 or less I think usual shipping price for PB12Plus/2 is about US$265, door to door. PB12Plus about US$235.
khewa Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 I think usual shipping price for PB12Plus/2 is about US$265, door to door. PB12Plus about US$235. The PB12Plus/2 is about 140 pounds compared to the 20-39 PC Plus, 55 pounds. about 3 times the weight. Would the shipping costs for 20-39 PC Plus be a lot less compared to the PB12Plus/2 ? if there is not much difference, would definitely consider the PB12 Plus/2, only problem is I'll be moving house in the next 6 months, so lugging a 140 pound beast is going to be challenge.
Quest88 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 The PB12Plus/2 is about 140 pounds compared to the 20-39 PC Plus, 55 pounds. about 3 times the weight. Would the shipping costs for 20-39 PC Plus be a lot less compared to the PB12Plus/2 ? Not alot of difference. PC20-39+ is maybe around US$210. Most shipping companies work by volumetric weight. Anyway, can't really compare the subs just cos of the shipping cost! Personally I find the PC20-39+ or PB12Plus to be enough for most people's homes already. Those who want abit more performance may aim for the Ultra, IMO.
tsammyc Posted December 16, 2007 Author Posted December 16, 2007 I always smile when I hear suggestions that the SVS cylinders are small, easier to hide, lighter etc etc. The smallest of the 16" diameter cylinders is like those green garbage containers outside of landed homes in Singapore and at 90lbs moving the PC Ultra is like carrying a dead body around. As far as aesthetics, you have to imagine having a huge ugly black garbage container in your HT room. I find the box subs much easier to hide in the corner or in a cabinet and they look like normal furniture. Put those magic glide things on the bottom and they are easy to push around to position. There is also very little savings in shipping. Before buying a SVS cylinder, I think one should go look at one first. I moved my PB12+/2 recently. No problem with two people, one on each end. Quest, the Ultra is so expensive now vs the closeout of the PB2+/2, its not worth it unless you can hear detail in bass, which I can't.

Mine is in fact the smallest of the SVS cylinders, the 25-31, and it's still the first thing people see in my HT setup when they visit for the first time. Me? I'm used to it, but I do remember the first time I got it thinking that it looked a lot bigger than I thought it would. So be forewarned, and mentally prepare yourself -- and more importantly your wife... ;D
2100 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Yeah man, actually I am doing up a box for my new sub. 160L is already *F* big with front porting (plus additional 20L for the driver and ports so it is 180L). I can't imagine how you guys squeeze in a PB12+/2 with it 230L cabinet and more importantly its 71cm depth and needing more space behind for the ports to breathe. ;D I can just make it with ~ 50cm depth so that i place it right against the wall. Do you guys place it so that the ports and plate amp are facing out? (ie the other way round)
tsammyc Posted December 18, 2007 Author Posted December 18, 2007 I squeeze mine sideways between the wall and the couch. Both the wall and the couch have nice vibrations ;D
khewa Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I squeeze mine sideways between the wall and the couch. Both the wall and the couch have nice vibrations ;D hmm... maybe another name for the sub can be vibrators ....tagline for SVS subs: "Huge Vibrators to satisfy your needs" and in small print..."even your neighbors will know you're using it"
2100 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Hmm....sideways between the couch and wall. Actually I don't mind if the couch is vibrating, but I find the HDB walls damn hollow. Sian. I am actually thinking of doing up my new home with additional cement reinforcement of about 15-25mm for the walls and floor for the audio area.

Due to the cut throat prices the contractors are forced to work with, they cut corners by filling in the newspapers and magazines into the walls. I also heard never buy pre fabs since the joints are of the very poorest quality. This from a civil engineer who worked on HDB projects.
2100 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Prefab, nowadays all are prefab i guess. No choice!
khewa Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Prefab, nowadays all are prefab i guess. No choice! have choice,.... buy old flats....
Desperado Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 So off topic... from SVS sub SALE to HDB wall
