Hi,

My current LG DVD Recorder only can record to discs, and is giving me quite some problems.

Can anyone recommend a good DVD Recorder with HDD & HDMI upscale (1080p)? My budget is less than $500.

Hope to hear some good suggestions. Thanks alot guys!

Cheers,

Mz

Sitex was offering the Pioneer 550 (160GB HDD) which can upscale to 1080p over HDMI for $599 during hourly offers yesterday.  Slightly out of your budget but would rank as one of the better DVD recorders in the market.

Oh but since you mentioned is hourly offers, so if I go down, it might not be at $599?

EXPO is like at the other side of the country. haha. I stay at Choa Chu kang.

Yup it's possible.  But you could pick up a $599 BD player instead.  :D

Thanks! i might drop by expo after the lee hom concert @ stadium cove (if it ends early). if not i guess i'll have to purchase elsewhere.

Where would be a good place to get the Pioneer 550?

They were still selling a limited number of sets around 6+ last night when I got in.  Well looking at it from the bright side, you can now wait for the next generation of recorders that can record high def material from HD5.  ;D

hehe. i don't have HD5 yet though. still pondering whether to get MioTV to get it anot.

so the next generation of recorders will record in blu-ray format?
