More like why should they.

The US market is huge, hence region free doesn't affect them as much. Hence owning a region free player is not a must since they are less likely to ask for a R6 or R3 disc. Plus their machines cannot play PAL discs anyway.

Not entirely true. It's also because in Australia, the law says it is illegal to create region locks. Something to do with free trade and anti-competition, I gather.
