howk798 Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 My RPTV just broke down, I intend to buy a plasma soon ( still monitoring the price at the moment ). Currently having a Marantz DV6600 connected by hdmi direct to the projector Epson TW600 while the digital audio is connected to my Marantz SR7500 ( no hdmi in and out for this model ). I intend to use the DV6600 for the new plasma and pj so I need 2 hdmi output, also I will be adding a PS3 later and all of these are setup in my living room. One solution I thought is to change the AVR to the Marantz SR7002 with 4 hdmi input and 2 output ( does it meant that I can select the output either to the plasma or the pj ). What other models has this capability, I think it cost more than $1500 if not wrong but then my existing AVR is only 2 yr old nia :'( so quite unwilling to spend on this. Any bro got other better suggestion and advice? Thanks :)
Doggie Howser Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Get an HDMI splitter. In fact, the Marantz implementation is a bit leceh if I remember correctly cos only 1 display active at any one time. So you need to turn on the "active" display, use the OSD to switch HDMI output to the other display, then turn off the first display. If the first active display was a projector then need to wait a while b4 the projector bulb is bright enough.. Of course you could probably do this with the front panel display but might be a bit more confusing.
htfreak Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Other choices that you have includes the Onkyo 905 and Denon 4308. These may be more flexible than the way Marantz have implemented theirs. Cost wise also more expensive lah.

Those hdmi splittter have selection for 2 output or not, as I only see those with multiple input but only single output. Thanks for letting me know about the Marantz being so leceh. I thought it is as simple as using the remote control to select the hdmi output to either 1 or 2 only for the switching, anyway I will find out more. Any bro can share, how you connect your source with hdmi to 2 displays?

Those are HDMI switches You should be looking for HDMI splitters. I have a 4x2 splitter and both HDMI outputs are active.
