ohlins Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 i bought a box of 10 rca caps from venture at the isse........ 10 for 50 bucks.... my system dun suffer from noise problems so i cant tell if they work to reduce any noise..... they sure look good but i didnt spend time to AB their effectiveness..... i dun own any cardas caps.... that's why cant compare frankly speaking.... i dun think the caps will help to reduce humming in your amp...... the problem is elsewhere....
hotbird Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Try these... http://www.hifido.co.jp/merumaga/special/050722/indexe.html Now further updated with vibration control material sheet at the ends. http://www.acoustic-revive.com/english/sip8/sip8_01.html Am using the old models of SIP8 and BSIP2 without the vibration control sheets which were just introduced lately With regards to your amp humming, could be a ground loop problem http://www.audioholics.com/tweaks/connecting-your-system/ground-loops-eliminating-system-hum-and-buzz http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread/t-65596.html http://hometheaterhifi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1075

Never try all this thanks Audio Basic at Adelphi carries a range of Acoustic Revive products. With regards to vibration control, I think AR has an added advantage and is more unique than the rest out there. Also notice the more elongated shorting pin of the AR design, it really shorts your inputs; the other designs merely cover the rca outlet but does not short. In fact AR makes another design with teflon shorter non-shorting pins just for output rca, as the output rcas cannot be shorted. It also explains why more expensive duralumin (aircraft aluminium) is used in its construction http://www.acoustic-revive.com/english/bwa4/bwa4_03.html Both Telos and Cardas just looks nice and shiny and a copy of each other ;D Cardas RCA Telos RCA Cardas Male XLR Telos Male XLR Cardas Female XLR Telos Female XLR See the similarity, I wonder if Cardas is aware of the copycat ;D
hca2 Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 Hi Hotbird, You are correct this to brands looks very same only the material that they used.Anyway i have no idea whether this accoustic revive rca caps can block some EMI/RF that they cause the humming for my poweramp. thanks
hotbird Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Hi Hotbird, You are correct this to brands looks very same only the material that they used.Anyway i have no idea whether this accoustic revive rca caps can block some EMI/RF that they cause the humming for my poweramp. thanks I suggest you try out some of the methods mentioned in the URLs to check whether your hum comes from a ground loop problems or cabling issues. Note that if you are using tube amps, location of a nearby wireless router or strong rf-emitting device like some mobile phone can cause the tubes to hum too. The use of the AR caps are more to make the noise floor of the system even lower if it is already quiet. PS if you want even more quiet background check out this thing that an echoloft poster is selling away http://www.echoloft.com/cgi-bin/buysell/YaBB.cgi?board=hifi&action=display&num=1195619226
