Audioache Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Well it is out now! And from forum posting in the US, it seems to fix the 2gb file limit that is affecting video transcoding and streaming in software such as Tversity. Gonna try out if it works later..
Dixivisual Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Here is the link to download and check at the bottom of the page what does the lastest firmware does or fixed. http://www.us.playstation.com/ps3/network/updates?DCMP=ILC-PS3_1304&LINK=PS3SU
kzone Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 ...but it doesn't 'look' promising for the Bluray fans...only mention about the improvements over the stability of game play and network connectivity. My PS3 "hang" when trying to detect a weak wireless networkb after the firmware upgrade... only after I changed to higher gain antenna than it worked.. shouldnt it say that "no network found" instead of trying to hook on forever (wirelss light blinking) & freeze the screen at the network search?
Audioache Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I can confirm that the firmware did fix the network stabiity issues somehow, playback from Tversity is smoother with less stuttering. And streaming of file over 2gb is not a problem anymore. For those who is playing back trancoded 720p mkv file on PS3, you would want to install this update.

Yes, with the latest 2.0 firmware, I tried SACD surround and SACD stereo playing it thru my HT system using optical output. The surround sound is decoded as DTS and it sounded really good. I tried it with Pink Floyd DSOTM and Sting Brand New Day.

Is there any difference in sound quality between playing back via the PS3 or thru those universal player like Oppo, Pioneer or Denon ? Since SACD's signal cant be handled by the optical cable...does it mean the signal had been compressed ? I am considering to get the PS3 (60GB) to facilitate the playback of SACD....yet to hear to my DM's remastered series in its SACD format.
