tsammyc Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Haven't kept up with the latest hardware combinations and am looking to upgrade the sound in my study after installing a new 1080p projector. I'm currently running off a PS3 (formerly connected to my SXRD) to the Optoma HD80 via HDMI, while audio goes via optical to a Yammy 1500. Told myself that I'm not going to buy any of the new fangled HDMI 1.3 receivers until True HD and DTS MA bitstream is sent and processed correctly. Why spend the money to upgrade when it doesn't work yet... Does anyone have it working yet? and what hardware should I be looking at for both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD? also, what receiver should I pair with... still the Onkyo 875?
Doggie Howser Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Toshiba A35 will output TrueHD and DTS HD MA/HR over HDMI 1.3 to any HDMI 1.3 receiver with the right decoders. Samsung's 1400 will do the same.

Doggie Howser Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 In the spec of A35, it mentioned DTS HD MA/HR (core only) Can anyone let me know what it means by core only DTS HD comprises of a. DTS Core (now also known as DTS Encore) b. HD extensions to provide higher bitrates for HR (high res) and MA (lossless) When you only have a basic DTS decoder (such as the one built into the A35 and XA2 and most HD/BR players), they will ignore the HD extensions, and just play back the Core. The Core is the standard DTS signal (supports up to 1.5Mbps) that all DTS decoders to date can decode.
