insomia Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Dear All, I am gathering interest for a MO to bring in the new highly rated network media player which can support many media formats available today, including the h.264 and MKV. The retailing price is US179 excluding shipping, and shipping is estimated to be around US$50 per piece. My target is to reach at least 5 orders to try to save on shipping cost. I am getting a qoute from popcorn hour to get some firm pricing, dont think we can get discount from the unit itself since its already a steal. Cheers These are the specs extracted from their site at www.popcornhour.com Popcorn Hour A-100 allows you to pull in digital video, audio and photos from various sources for your enjoyment on your HDTV or Home Theater setup. You can stream or playback your digital media content from a variety of sources, such as your PC, NAS, digital camera, USB mass storage devices (Flash drive, HDD, DVD drive) , internal HDD* and even directly from the Internet via the Media Service Portal. It also serves as a NAS and a BitTorrent peer-to-peer downloader** to eliminate the need to switch on a PC or other device for this purpose. The Popcorn Hour A-100 supports the latest high bitrate video formats (MPEG2 MP@HL, H.264 HP@L4.1, VC-1 AP@L3 in TS of at least 40Mbps) to give you up to 1080p high-definition videos. In recognition of advances in Internet TV, the A-100 supports peer-to-peer Internet TV streaming technology from SayaTV, as well as popular unicast internet TV such as YouTube, Google Video and Metacafe via the Media Service Portal. The A-100 firmware is upgradeable to support future media containers, codecs and features. * HDD not included ** An internal HDD is required for these functions. imbest Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 brother ew, I'm very keen, but how can 1kg work out to be USD50? What courier you using? Maybe can tap along with some corporate account to get good rate bah.
Jagdpanzer Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I am keen too. But just curious about US$50 shipping charge. Pls keep me posted.
insomia Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 hi, latest update... if we are able to secure 10pcs, the cost per unit is US$199 (S$299) with shipper via UPS (not vpost or USPS) additional cost like GST of 7% will be spiltted upon collection... list you name down... need to be fast, the dateline is 30 Oct. If nobody is interested, i will still go ahead and get myself.. PS: US$50 per unit for shipping via UPS or Fedex is not expensive... so dont compare with vpost which takes 2 weeks to reach here. thanks
imbest Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 doubt we can fetch such order. Shall wait for your review then :D
ks Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Can i ask, can this thing work like squeezebox3? Looks like its not a Wi-Fi device, so still gotta pull ethernet cable to it.
insomia Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 hi, it can work like a soundbridge streaming music from your PC/HDD to your audio system however it does not come with WIFI inbuilt. i suggest homeplug if lying UTP cable is not an option..

Bonn Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 i just placed my order. USD224, so should work out to be around SGD$330-340 :D I wondering if your 224USD include the shipping charges. $330 - $340....Hmmm...not far from the TVIX price by much.
imbest Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 USD224 (USD179+USD45 freight) bao everything liao lor.....i dun want to consolidate order coz the 7% GST may offset the cost savings, then still need to meet up, troublesome. I order for you guys separately, delivery directly at your door step. easier. which Tvix model you're comparing woh? Popcorn is at the 6500A level which cost $700 u know? Those who are keen, you need to transfer $350 to me first, I will transfer back the remaining amount to you, most probably it cost around $330. People who showed interest in the quick MO: 1.DeepThroat (PM received)
insomia Posted December 19, 2007 Author Posted December 19, 2007 btw, I found out I can place multiple orders. bro, you may want to clarify with popcorn.. even though the "system" let you order multiple pieces, dont think it will happen..
