moonwalker Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 sorry for newbie question? I always wonder that how can a subwoofer be connected to an int stereo amp? If a receiver then should be no problem, but an int stereo amp only got 2 output for the left and right only. Thanks in advance for helping :D
ckng Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Hi, Use either the Pre-out if your integrated has one, or use the speaker outputs and parallel the subwoofer to it (if the subwoofer has high-level (i.e. speaker) inputs. If your sub only has line-level inputs and your integrated amp only has speaker outputs, then you're stuck :p Regards CK
volks_ong Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Hi , I am also interested to know. So you mean if my sub have speaker input connection , itwill be, integrated amp pre out --> sub in --> sub speaker connection ( red& black) --> speaker (red& black) (using speaker cable)? Is this the best way? Any other combination. Thanks. moonwalker Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 sub has line level input meaning an active subwoofer? then connect the bookshelf to the output from the sub? I afraid that my amp don't have pre-amp out. :(
cn9601 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Bros. You should get a fair understanding of adding sub into an int amp at: http://www.audioholics.com/tweaks/get-good-bass/no-subwoofer-output-in-2-channel-mode sorry wrong link. will get the correct link later. Pls note that Pre-Out or Line Level refers to typical RCA Interconnect (typical Red/White), similar to how you would connect your CDP to the Int Amp. The indicative Red/Black is to connect only the Int Amp Speaker Output using speaker cable to bookshelf speaker / floorstand spkr...... Careful with what you are connecting ;D

Int Amp Speakers Out -> Sub Speakers In (Red/Black) Int Amp Speakers Out -> Main Speakers (in parallel) There's a 3rd way, some like it, some don't. Extra wires required. This is how Bose does it. 3. Int Amp Speakers Out -> Sub Speakers In Sub Speakers Out -> Main Speakers This way the sub's crossover will filter all the low frequencies and pass the frequencies above the cutoff (which you set on the sub) to the main speakers. REL actually recommends #2 though. Regards CK
