ks Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I'm refering to horns, single driver ones that are usually partnered with flea-watt SE amps. I've heard that on stereo setup, and find them very open, very dynamic. Wouldn't they be good candidates for HT?
2100 Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Wouldn't they be good candidates for HT? Yes, unfortunately too big for a SG hall. Not too big technically actually, but too big for the wife. Oris horns, 15" pro-audio drivers. Can try the pro audio coaxials, also quite dynamic. Coz the centre is compression driver with a small center horn flare. Have to DIY though. 10 inch coax I believe is good enough, since 80Hz already routed to LFE sub. If i ever get into HT, this is probably the only way i'd go. But your amp must be very very good. Else the whole setup will sound like shit.
ks Posted October 3, 2007 Author Posted October 3, 2007 wow....not this big la... something like this . If price not so ex, and given that they are floorstanders, can be value for money? by the way, those 4 identical boxes sitting between the speakers, are power amps?
2100 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 The floorstander would be around 800 bucks with say a FE167E? Robert did a small box for me with the 206-ESR. You can ask Ah Lim to do the box for you too, the corners and edges will be rounded if you prefer it that way. Pretty nice, contact at Echoloft DIY section. You can try coaxials too, like this. Reduces a bit of the horn complexity. http://www.usspeaker.com/B&C-10NCX-1.htm If you are interested, let me know, we can talk through email. DIY opens up a lot of opportunities for really good sound for little money.
imbest Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 but I thought HT are supposed to be just boom boom boom? lol!
