kj87 Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Hi currently using a Dared MP5, and my cheapo hi-fi speakers has really poor bass.... thus need suggestions for high sensitivity speakers and a cdp (i'm still using the usb function for now) My budget is 300 for the speakers and 250 for the cdp, and perhaps 80 for the cables. With the tight budget, think must go second hand. Will be getting speakers, cdp, then cables, in that order. Musical tastes are jazz, slow chinese oldies and 80s-90s chinese pop. Not a fan of fast songs (which i think not the dared's strengths also) For Speakers, have listened to Usher S520 paired with Dared MP5 and it was really good for jazz, but also looking out for various other alternatives. For Cdp, i'm eyeing the Marantz cd5001 or Denon DCM500AE (?). Cables-wise i'm not too sure.... Suggestions deeply appreciated, thanks!

hifiluv Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 yep agree with warmaster, both Klotz IC and Belden 1313A. the Klotz is one of the best value for $ IC, very balance sound, sweet but still enough punch. for cdp, can get a Marantz, Rotel or NAD in resale, n within ur intended budget. spker best to get a pr with 89 or 90dB senv so tat they can be driven by the MP5. m using Jamo E500 satellite (90dB) with my MP5 and gives very good sound for a bedroom setup. :)

hifiluv Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Hey hifiluv, wat model of cd player is dat in your pic? its a virgin (unmod) Marantz CD5400, after 1/2yr run in, the sound is quite good. unlike when new, too laid back. :P
