kayel Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I found out that Amazon has raised its shipping prices for DVDs as below: Base charge: From US$3.99 to $4.99 Per item charge: From $2.49 to $3.99!!! I should have pre-ordered Spider-Man 3 BD yesterday when I had the chance! Arrggh!
Calvin83 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Ouch! :( That's quite a steep increase! Now we have to pay about an additional S$3 for each additional title. Looks like may have to bring my business elsewhere... :-\
vince75 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Yeah damn they just increased price few days ago i just ordered 7 DVDs cost me shipping US$21.42, if use new shipping rate, it will be USD32.92, which is like almost 18 SGD increase!
htfreak Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Damm it.. I was holding back a few orders cause I was waiting for one or two disc links to show up. Looks like have to fall back on VpostUSA already. What a hassle.
kayel Posted September 30, 2007 Author Posted September 30, 2007 Damm it.. I was holding back a few orders cause I was waiting for one or two disc links to show up. Looks like have to fall back on VpostUSA already. What a hassle. Same here. I really shouldn't have waited cos the most important ones to me were Transformers and Spiderman 3 and were already available for pre-order. The other ones were not important at all.. aiyah.. what to do now??
kzone Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 what to do now?? Use vpost ah... its cheap & good if u're lucky like me... but make sure Amazon send in 1 shipment rather than splits...
fuhyong Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Does sending it through vpost means higher risk of kena detained by censors? so they open the box and straight away chong gong the objectionable titles?
kayel Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 Despite the higher Amazon prices now, I would rather have Amazon send the DVDs over rather than Vpost. I had a very bad experience with Vpost before and so I'm averse to using them unless I really have no choice. Even the 13% discount card I have is not enticing enough. But the first time I asked Vpost to send DVDs over, all my DVDs came through. I don't think customs even inspected the package.
kzone Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 y 1 shipment bro?? Its cheaper that way... If u order abt 6-12 discs, Amazon will put them in a box & vpost charge under category "others". If split shipments, eg 3 discs in 1 shipment - vpost will charge as DVD - base charge + %5+ per disc. During the buy 2 get 1 free promo, Amzon split my shipments (not sure if I clicked the wrong option during order), 1 box with 6 discs & 1 package (just a protective cardboard) with 3 discs. Vpost charged me "others" for the box & "DVD" for the package

I'm also thinking about using Vpost now....thanks

I'm also thinking about using Vpost now....thanks No they didn't lose my discs.. It's just that their tracking system gave me the wrong info on the delivery of my things and I thought my package was supposed to arrive in one piece. But in the end, they shipped my things in two packages and another item was placed on hold over in the US. In the end I was told to pay $70 for the delivery of a $35 item, which was not worth it. They refused to waive the charges, except to say they won't charge me the base fee. Even after taking this "discount" into consideration, the shipping fee would be at $58 and was still costlier than the item (if they had delivered all the items in one package, I would not have to pay this extra shipping fee). So in the end I gave them approval to throw the item away... sian...

kzone Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Not sure abt 6 discs, but the box I usually order (8-12 discs) would cost abt SGD27 before the usual 10-12% disc
