imbest Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 I'm not going to run ugly trunking for my Z3, so......have to start looking at a good rack for it. anybody using similar method to hold your projector? Think the height should be around 1.2-1.6m. any idea where got sell such thing? or must DIY?
koma Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 im gettin a set of racks made frm a metal shop in amk. he quoted me round $50-$60 with powder coating of the racks. juz a simple 2 piece L bar hanging on the ceiling which im goin to place a board across to the pj on. will let u know the results when i get hold of it on tue or wed
imbest Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 remember to take some pictures! actually I'm looking for movable rack so that I can move my projector in between my AV room and living room. something like this but with wheels and smaller in size lah: but this will collect a lot of dust right? maybe a cabinet? but need an exhaul hole for the projector fan leh.
Quest88 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 get a nice cabinet la.. then just prop the projector above it using some kind of stand. no stand can just use wood blocks or whatever so your fan has space to breathe. thats what i did anyway.
imbest Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 bro quest, can show us some pictures? :D the thing is i want to make it movable, unless the cabinet is damn light and with wheels, it's quite tough for me to take this option, the place is quite limited especially in my AV room :(
Quest88 Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 no pics. my cabinet is a wall to wall cabinet so quite different. no choice if u want to hide the trunking into something.. actually wats wrong with hanging bare wires outside? i lived with that for awhile n its more sightly than trunking really.
imbest Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 nothing is wrong, just that my whole house has no trunking at all :) but that's not the point lah. I need the "rack" to be movable, coz the projector will be used in both living hall and AV room. Still considering taking over the pull down screen from a friend, which can be detached move to either rooms too. Currently using the wall, actually not so bad lah.
Quest88 Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 i dunno how often you move your system but this sounds damn troublesome. not only gotta move the projector, but now you wanna move a whole cabinet? then gotta reattach all the display, power cables, etc? can't you just buy two cabinets.. easier to detach the projector n move it since its rather small. in the first place, i don't think a rack of this height can fit through a normal door straight? then how you gonna move it from room to room? no trunking just means u planned for everything except the projector lor.
imbest Posted September 19, 2007 Author Posted September 19, 2007 additional cabinet means additional unnecessary cost. It could also be a total spoiler for the overall theme. Just tried my Z3 len shift to the extreme, seems quite okay to me when watching movie, but if viewing normal computer screen, i can tell a difference in terms of focus, but still, it's very clear. So I think there is no problem in putting it at the right hand side, coz the fan is blowing to the right. Since the lens shift is working fine without any distorted image nor keystone required, there are more flexibility in the projector placement. The moment i raise the legs.....keystone is required liao....
imbest Posted September 27, 2007 Author Posted September 27, 2007 i saw this thing from IKEA by accident, one of my colleague actually bought it and left it beside the desk..... it's rather small but the idea one for my projector will be a slightly bigger version....any idea where can get such thing? May need to pay IKEA a visit again :D
imbest Posted October 4, 2007 Author Posted October 4, 2007 chop 1 similar to this but using MDF :D I'm a happy man now.....may consider getting wheels for it.....
