bigbadwolf Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 I was reading a review on the Onkyo SR805: http://reviews.cnet.com/av-receivers/onkyo-tx-sr805-silver/4505-6466_7-32430614.html Am planning to connect SCV SD STB -> Onkyo SR805 (HDMI output) -> HD Projector Would like some feedback on: 1) What is the resolution of the SD output from SCV STB? 2) How is the picture quality of SD material from SCV STB after upscaling conversion thru the SR805? Other than the SR805, are there any AV recievers which I can consider? My budget is $1.5k.
Doggie Howser Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 1) What is the resolution of the SD output from SCV STB? Decent but not great. The HD set top box outputs SD channels a lot better. 2) How is the picture quality of SD material from SCV STB after upscaling conversion thru the SR805? I prefer to use my projector's Reon or Gennum processor to decode it vs a very basic upscaler (like that used in the Yamaha RXV2700 or the 805). If upscaling is important for you, get the 875 or a display with a good upscaler.
bigbadwolf Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 Thanks, Doggie. So it might be better if I opt of the HD STB instead of the standard one. My wife and I like to watch Discovey Channel and NGC anyway. I don't think my Epson Tw1000 has any upscaling capability, so upscaling at the component end would be critical for the PQ. I was thinking of the Reon processor on the Onkyo SR875 but it seems quite pricey. For my other sources, Oppo 981 and PS3(not purchased yet), they already have some upscaling capabiity.
imbest Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 is this monster really taking 870W of power??!! more demanding than a 50" Plasma?
