zapp1624705742 Posted September 15, 2007 Author Posted September 15, 2007 The layout looks very very friendly to do caps rolling... ;) bro syn - maybe i need your help in this liao i v tempted to upgrade caps :p also if i am not wrong i read at diyaudio forum that this fella power tubes are overbiased and need to add resistors in to bring them down... Schematics are here: http://seis.bris.ac.uk/~chdma/files/mc-5881_english.jpg
hifiluv Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 yep, tats what they do, to give impressive sound power rating, but overbiasing power tubes place undue stress and shorten the tube life, :P

kwhv Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 The tube craze took another turn. Later we will see Mono Blocs soon. ;D Soon... Mine's 6L6 quasi monoblocs ;) Dared VP20, 700+ for 2 channels plus a separate power supply. Not true monoblocs bcos they share same power supply (lower cost?) which is external. Well thought design. By separating the power supply, minimise heat problems with the trans and electromagnetic interference. Plus it enables the use of a bigger power trans.
