galapogos Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Hi, My dad wants to replace the old Denon integrated amp for our living room system with a new HT receiver since the amp is busted. It will be a rather cheap receiver that is definitely <$1000, or in fact <$500 if possible. I've lost track of receiver models nowadays, but I seem to remember the Denon 150x series being pretty good a few years ago, so right now I'm leaning towards whatever Denon has that fits the budget. The speaker system is currently only a 2.0, with a pair of Kenwood floor standers(I don't even know the model number but I don't think it's that great). A pair of old KEC C40 stand mounters that I have in my room now will be migrated there either as mains or as surrounds, depending on which sounds better I guess. As for sub and center channel, I'm not even sure if my dad has budgeted for that. As you can see this will be a fairly low end system, mostly for TV watching and casual music listening, so I don't see much point of a very expensive HT receiver. We already have a separate HT room with a much higher end system so I'll be trying to keep costs down and get the most bang for the buck equipment. So, any recommendations for cheap HT receivers? Thanks in advance.
