cn9601 Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Joe, you will cause Serious Fire in this forum! :-X I am (and will soon be was) Bose owner. I have finally taken off-line my Bose speakers ;) If you dig deep enuiff in this forum and start auditioning or rather REALLY USE YOUR EARS to HEAR some stuff at Adelphi, you will understand how you could musically poisoned. And then the other way to spell Bose is Box. Ya, it is just a box, and you are paying lots of lots of money for a Box 8) There is a difference between audiophile (for the soul and heart) and lifestyle music (for the vanity face). Nothing wrong for both, but it matters a lot on where you have just spent the money. It is your choice and preference ;D
petetherock Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Mate I don't own them, but a few of my friends own them Most are professionals and don't mind the sound, they want style and discreet speakers Hence the cubes are mounted high up, out of the way and in corners. Thats not hi fi and neither is Bose. They are very stylish and the 'thump' which the bass modules gives makes them attractive to some, but I don't think you will find them here, nor in echoloft where some do a double post of their question (the replies will also be fairly taciturn or worse vile). If you have bought it, no worries, sit back and enjoy. Atlas sound can give you some ideas on mounting. If you have not bought them, then do see the thread on satellite speakers (Search for it). There are defintely better options. mind to share the layout of bose system in your home
SteinigerGE Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 No highs, no lows - must be Bose..... Why pay so much more to get so much less? That being said, if you run a restaurant or coffee shop and people don't really go there to listen to music, I think a Bose "music system" can be used pretty effectively and discretely.
2100 Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Bose is ok what.... Wait till you meet Mr B&O, some of their models....
joe_koh Posted September 2, 2007 Author Posted September 2, 2007 it is nice in my room, small and good nicely installed. The sound is not bad also. Quite good
Jagdpanzer Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 If Bose and B&O are so bad, are they surviving and doing well. Actually these brands have high Spouse Approval Factor and are easy to install. Besides they are pretty listenable and easy to set up. Frankly you can't compare the sound with Denon, Onkyo, Krell or Theta or with people like us to like to tweak.
naglfar Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Personally I think a Bose system sounds decent. The problem I have with Bose is that they are freaking expensive! I have a friend that spent a few thousand buck on one of those Lifestyle series. When I think the CD player, amp, floorstander and a 42" TV that I can with the exact amount that whe has spent...well, it's just ridiculously overpriced.
SiriuslyCold Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 I use the Bose Am 5 for my PC use not too bad ;D impressive, especially if the sound is from the Cambridge PCWorks peeking out from below the monitor.
dannyhgt Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Bose is ok what.... Wait till you meet Mr B&O, some of their models.... B&O ok what... I have the amps. ;)
dethangel Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 The AM5 Series I / II / III is as far as i'll go with a bose. I daren't listen to the rest. Especially hearing my uncle spent his retirement funds on a $5K setup. I nearly ran all the way home after hearing a demo. Now i really love my Klipsch & SVS setup ;D
cn9601 Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 sense tat tis thread clearly has generation GAP 8) Hmmmmm......one that warm the heart and soul with TRUE acoustics, natural sound, and one that just have music in the AIR. :-\ Redbook CD, SACD, LPCD, XRCD........if you know these, then it serves as a basic test for those who KNOW how to HEAR and UNDERSTAND what is audiophile. ??? Otherwise, yes, stick with Bose and Cambridge and Creative and Altec Lansing and Sonic........... ::)
basspundit Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Off topic, but I see a parallel with lingerie... ;D ... Why pay so much more to get so much less?
malsound Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Bye Bye Bose. The man has done a lot for psychoacoustic before there is even DSP. http://www.stereophile.com/content/amar-g-bose-phd-19291502013
