htfreak Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Looks like the 2nd round of 1080p LCD's are starting to make their debut in the next month of so. First out of the gate is the Mitsubishi with the release of the HC6000. http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/08/22/mitsubishis-lvp-hc6000-3lcd-projector-throws-1080p-at-19db/
Doggie Howser Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Wonder if they'll do the Cine4Home upgrades
desray Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Yeah...I wonder too. :P Other than that...the changes are quite minor IMO. Up the Contrast (using DI) as well as lowering the Lumens to a comfortable 800 lux and so on. Casing looks pretty much the same. :)
Jag Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 The RRP looks very much affordable and within reach to the masses. The actual selling price should be even lower and more attractive in this competitive market. Good to see the 2nd gen. 1080p pjs coming out so soon......... barely less than a year than when the HC5000 was announced. The next wave of DLPs should materialising closer to CES.

Up the Contrast (using DI) as well as lowering the Lumens to a comfortable 800 lux and so on. Casing looks pretty much the same. :) If I remember correctly, the Cine4Home changes reduced the output lumens as well. This was because of a second iris to improve native contrast and to reduce light scattering (which made the DI action no longer noticeable acc to Cine4Home). The specs in the Cine4Home mod are pretty close to this HC6000 ones.
Phaton Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Endless pursue of perfection at the expense of consumer's pocket. ;D It will be nice if they provide upgrade package to existing HC5000 owners similar to Cine4home.
levin1624705865 Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 anyone knows if its retailing on Spore now or where we can view a demonstration?
HT102 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 anyone knows if its retailing on Spore now or where we can view a demonstration? There was a set on demo when I visited Mitsubishi service centre 2 weeks ago. A recent review on HC6000: http://www.projectorreviews.com/mitsubishi/hc6000/index.php

desray Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Seems like Mitsubishi has made some leaps in the previously lacklustre Auto-Iris performance...At least, The engineers back in Mits are are aware of the problem with the former IRIS built in HC5000. They even 'dare' to make it public and admit the flaws on the HC5000 Auto-IRIS :P Kudos to you - Dun expect HC5000 to be in production anymore...hehehe Here's a brochure explaining some Auto-IRIS improvements in this latest model.

I was told that the RRP of HC6000 will be in the region of S$5k. Remember that this PJ sports a decently-featured REON HQV processor.
desray Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Yes...its gonna be a value-for-money good buy! I can attest to it. :) So far I am still impressed by its color and clarity. I'm glad that Mitsubishi is elastic in their prcing strategy.
insomia Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 went to sound decision today and saw the hc6000... priced at $4999 i think its a good buy.. the color saturation and black level is quite close to vw60.. at $1000 lesser with longer lamp hour

Did you also take a look at HD100? If so, I would love to hear your opinion, and if it does justify the huge premium over the Mits. Thks!
insomia Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 yap, i took the "wrong" path i check out the hd100 first... even my wife convinced that the HD100 has so much better color saturation/contrast level compared with the mits and sony.. but at $10999.. its kinda hard to justify the difference unless you are willing to pay the price

HT102 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 There is a replacement launching soon using D7 LCD panels...HC6050 as reported in the web. Thanks for sharing. Besides D7 panel upgrade, the contrast rating has also increased from 13000:1 to 15000:1. Unfortunately, the unsightly filter protrusion still persist. http://www.21tx.com/oa/2007/11/06/12170.html I hope Mits Sg will bring in the black version of this PJ.
Yeek Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Wow....good thing you waited instead of plunging into HC6000! Yeek
HT102 Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Wow....good thing you waited instead of plunging into HC6000! Actually, I half-expected that. I don't see Epson continuing their D6 panel production line for Mitsubishi alone when all other players are using D7 panels. IMHO, HC4900 is probably remnant HC5000 stock with the HQV processing and 1080p24fps disabled. 2 weeks more to CES'08.. can't wait to find out if any affordable (<US$5k) short-throw 1080p DLPs will be released. ;D
