Dixivisual Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 As I dont hv broadband but still with dial-up at 56kps :'( thus downloading of games or demo games or Blu-ray movies trailer from Playstation Network will be a duanting and long task. Wondering can I download all those content to a ext harddisk from someone whom hv a broadband and then plug it into PS3 and transfer over? Has anyone done that before? Pls advise thanks Still new and green to PS3 which I just repossessed from someone.
Melvinho77 Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Upgrading of PS3 firmware can be done by downloading the file from the website and saving it in a SD card or memorystick. Insert the memorycard into the PS3, go to system update and chose search in media. However, not so sure about downloading games. I think it's not possible as you need to sign in and pay via PS3 interface.
Dixivisual Posted August 21, 2007 Author Posted August 21, 2007 Thanks Melvinho77. Hv asked at other forum and they said can't too must hook up PS3 direct via ethernet and perform the download from Playstation@Network. Will explore this weekend :)
hifiice Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Hi! Guy, I have recently taken over from someone for a PS3, I am not a gamer and would like to use the PS3 as my main DVD/BD player. I was told that my PS3 had been upgraded to latest firmware 1.9 ver, just wondering if there is any button/function I can press on PS3 to find out the current firmware to verify?

Hi! hifiice, You can toggle thru the features when you start your PS3 and move to the left and stop and the last 2nd ones then move downwards where its display system setting, display setting, BD/DVD etc its inside one of them just press the "circle" button and activate one of those features to check it out. Its fairly easier lah
lugerider Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Sorry, can I made an enquiry on PS3 too? I am thinking of getting a PS3, main thing is to play BD movie and second is to play some games. Which PS3 would you recommend? I know there is the 80G and 60G models, and read that a new 40G one is coming soon. Many thanks.
naglfar Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Sorry, can I made an enquiry on PS3 too? I am thinking of getting a PS3, main thing is to play BD movie and second is to play some games. Which PS3 would you recommend? I know there is the 80G and 60G models, and read that a new 40G one is coming soon. Many thanks. The 80G is $799. Standard package is console and one additional sixaxis controller. So total is 2 controllers. The 40G version is $559. Just 1 controller. The 60G version is being phased out now, but you might still be able to find it at some shops. The best deal I found was at Sony Wisma Atria. $799, you get an additional sixaxis controller (worth $66), one free game of your choice (worth $80), and one free Bluray movie (limited selection, only those priced at $49.90). So do your maths and see which one is more worthwhile. I told a buddy who was looking around, and he bought it.
dude Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 Some help guys and gals. I didn't know that the new 40gb and 80gb do not have memory card slots, so 2 questions: 1) How do you save games? Only on the hdd? 2) Any idea where I can still find the 60gb version? Thanks a bunch.
sebastiansong Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 if you need the old 60GB versions you can call the following place http://www.funzcentre.com/ http://www.gamescore.com.sg/shop/ http://www.seowchoon.com/main/
lugerider Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Some queries on PS3 too ;D What is the main difference in the memory size, like 80GB vs 40GB? Any limitation (beside accessories) in terms of playing game if getting the 40GB version? Many thanks

Go to settings, network settings, you will find the mac address. Your wireless should have a setup page where there is a wireless mac filter for you to add the mac address. Read the manual of your wireless router or google for step by step instructions.

SC Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Anyone knows what is the package for the PS3 at the IT show.
armoury Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Is this offer still available at Wisma? Any other places where I can get a good deal? No. I was at the Wisma Sony store just a few days ago, and they only have the 40GB version now. Anyone knows what is the package for the PS3 at the IT show. The standard deal of $559 and must buy two games, but they will throw in a third game FOC. Choice of only NBA '07 or Gundam (IIRC).
