scoobydoo Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Will I be the first to highlight this? Dont you sometimes think that there is too much football on TV. Now with Channels 21, 22 and 27 all showing football, we get like 10+ hours each weekend. If we include the midweek games, League cup, FA cup, champions league and all the various international games, its endless. We can basically sit down and do nothing but watch Football. And how many of us actually do sit down and watch with eagerness of games that do not feature our favourite side. I might have caught some of the Bolton vs Newcastle game, but i wouldnt have been too pissed if i missed it totally. Sometimes I feel I get more excited waiting for the next F1 race than the next EPL game. There are only 19 races in a season and it wont be more frequent than once a week.
armoury Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I almost never watch a game that doesn't feature my side. So whilst I can see how fatigue could be perceived as being an issue, it isn't for me since I was never interested in the first place. Save perhaps for title-affecting games involving other contenders, I guess.
Pingu1624705792 Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Same here, the only game I watched in full with interest was Arsenal v Fulham. Just can't raise the same enthusiasm for games between other sides. Given that it's gonna be $25/mth I decided to watch the opener between Sunderland and Spurs. It was so boring! I watched only the first goal between Bolton and Newcastle even thought it was a cracker! Then on Sunday I watched Chelsea and Birmingham...er..with the sound totally off and listening to the Carpenters! And I only watched the last 30 mins of the ManU v Reading game. There's only so much free time and so many distractions
SiriuslyCold Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 what is the problem? *LOL* to be honest - this year I'm all footballed-out :P having to work on Asian Cup a whole month the EPL season seems to start rather quickly
lewlian Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 armoury...just as well you are not staying over the w/end in Shanghai. no soccer here cos of some licence thingy and satellite's a bummer. think even the pubs don't have any cabled version (only in BJ from what i understand)....freaking far out... from an oversupply of FTA channels to zip.
silencer13 Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Some people combat the 'fatigue' by betting. ;D ;D ;D For me, I usually watch the 1st 15 minutes. From there, you can usually tell if the teams involved are going to be exciting or not. Of course, if you got Lehmann in your favourite team, every second is 'exciting'.

Arrrgghhh... and for that matter I was trying to figure out if the ECL game tonight (Sparta v. Gunners -- hmmm, does a "300" reference come to mind?) is available on any channel. Even Starhub's programme guide doesn't have it on either ESPN (23) or Star Sports (24), both of which are available in my hotel.
