Diva classic one preamp

A very fine pre which is well made and lot of good reviews. Most use it together with solidstate amp for more tube sound. Steve from Sky Audio offer home trial. Do check with him.

recently was at S Audio to chk out the ALR Jordan Si mini speakers, Steve use Diva preamp and Diva power amp for demo (both tubes)... the sound can really blow u away... the dynamics, the speed, the soundstage.... really remove the idea tat tube setup only good for "slow" music, a real ear opener...  :o

u need to hear the ALR Jordon for yrself, the dynamics is just wow... but being so small, bass got to discount a bit, but still nice n tight  :)

I have been using the Classic one for 4 months.  It is very transparent and detail. Another good thing is it uses only 1 tube and that means you can roll tubes without hurting your pocket.

ALR Jordan are quite well known in Japan. The Entry Si was in the 2005 Japan Audio Excellence Award.

Yeah, I used to have that notion too, that tubes are only for vocals, jazz and instrumentals. My perception changed completely after hearing the Sun. Bought the Sun and since then it was no turning back from tubes. Have been wanting to try out amp using 6L6 tubes, so bought 6L6 power amp recently. Changed the stock tubes to some curent and NOS tubes. OH MY!, Dynamics can put many solids to shame. A brief write-up is in the making after runnin in and more thorough listening. ;D

Well, I was surprised when I first learned couple of years ago that tubes (military spec ones) are found in Russian fighter jets. I found out when i asked a audiofile friend how come tubes got military spec one. haha. Since then, never doubted the capability of tubes, its only abt how it is implemented.  ;D

ical, u said it man... my tube history...Cayin MT12 - Dared MP5 - Consonance M100Plus - DIY 6L6 - mini 6P1 ... never look back... now the only solid state amp in the hse is the Marantz AV amp for HT.

 

when buy a bigger house where i can hv a stereo corner, will consider the Diva preamp n power amp...i think tis one can play a lifetime one.... ;D

Thanks! I have heard about that great combo but dont have the budget yet. So am looking for some other suggestions for the power amp.... Is the Consonance also good?

cannot compare leh, the Consonance is an integrated tube amp, EL34 tube, 35W x2. the EL34 sound is again on its own, so is KT88, 6L6, EL84, 6p1, etc. so u need to hear it for yrself to see if u like it.

 

btw there is a shop (can't remember name) on the 3rd floor, SL Sq, selling some locally built tube amps, can chk it out, i remembered it sounded very good, driving JBL horn.  according to shop, they designed the amps after Mckintosh models.   :)

 

but sound is very subjective, one man's meat is another's poison,  ;D

 

now i m contended with my bedroom setup, mini tube - NAD cdp - Jamo E500 satellite. got dynamics n punch, got liquid sweet vocal n instrumental sound, just what the doctor prescribe..lol...
