Doggie Howser Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I know the JVC was blasted for not having VGA input. But I know that the component + composite is supposed to double up as a VGA input as well and can be mapped to R G B and sync respectively. I just want to know if there are any aftermarket cables/adaptors I can get for this. I don't really want to buy an Elite X360 since the VGA 1080p works perfectly fine :)
ciputra Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Hi Doggie, VGA to RGBHV are can be found easily in SLS or SLT. In the event that the RS1 can only use RGBS then get a BNC T-adaptor to combined the H and V they ought to work. and add 4pcs of BNC female to RCA male which cost about 1.50each
Jason Yeo Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Or you can buy a transcoder to change VGA to component . Works great(no degration) but more expensive and need power supply(I have one doing nothing now which cost me around S$500 last time). As for normal computer grade VGA to BNC (cost around 50bucks last time I bought),try to avoid it as I confirm it sure degrade the signal even on 480p(now already cut away the BNC head and use to protect my DVDp BNC head :P) . For 1080p , it should be worst . Another alternative is to DIY yourself(good cables+ RCA +VGA head) but will also cost more than 100bucks depends on length . I DIY one(5m) before at SLS which cost me around S$150 (redo it at later stage to component cables).
Doggie Howser Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 My VGA cable was already laid ages ago so I can't redo the wiring. I just need a short run, but looks like the adaptor may cause more degradation. I do have a component to VGA transcoder (actually I have a 3!) but nothing the other way around. :( The alternative is Gefen's VGA to DVI converter but I think that's just overkill. I can always hook the XBox360 to use component 1080p to the Yamaha amp but it does mean I need to hook up the component to the HD1 as well since the 2700 can't "upconvert" 1080p component to HDMI.

I can lend you to try out the keydigital transcoder first if you want(but need 110v power for the transcoder coz I import from US or alternatively you can buy a 220v step down adapter to subsitute the original 110v adapter ) . If ok , I can let go to you coz not using anymore ;) . Old days using it for my Dreamcast VGA box outputting 480p , change it to component for the CRT TV .;D .Let me know.

Of course i only use such cable max length of 2m. Any longer will connect is to a RGB line amplifier interface. Extron makes solid ones though if you're into branded
Doggie Howser Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 Jason, here's the link to the back panel. Have no idea how they use a single "sync" signal. As far as I know, there are 2 RGB modes. Sync on green or separate H/V sync. This is the first time I have seen this. ps the HD1 remote also doesn't show a "PC" input. Maybe just select component and hope it recognizes. In the meantime, I guess I better go RTFM haha

Still got the body with me ;D I have tested brand bettercables,DIY cables and computer grade ,immediately can tell the difference on the display.

After reading the JVC manual , confirm just connect component will do if you are outputing component from a source . Just ignore the sync unless you input VGA to the JVC.
ciputra Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 just get a T junction to combine the H and V to make a C ;)..works for CRT projector
Doggie Howser Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Solution in sight?? http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-de-49-en-70-25ko.html Looks like it is an HDMI breakout box from the standard AV port. *fingers crossed*
