sonofdbn Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 When I go to SLS I see lots of vendors selling software for Chinese input, as well as some digital pen input pad. I'm thinking of getting something like this to try to improve my virtually non-existent Chinese language, er, skills. But most of what I've seen seems to be for writing in Chinese, with only limited or no real "teaching" mode. Some of the software also seems to be a combination of various fdifferent programs (dictionary, pen input, translation, etc.), which seems a bit unwieldy. Any recommendations for a software/hardware combination for learning Chinese? (Or is the hardware fairly generic?)

redryder Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Since there are no serious replies, let me be the first. Try the national library. They have plenty of software for learning languages, and I'm sure mandarin is one of them. Recently they have also introduced audiobooks, which are books narrated on CD. There are quite a few good language learning books on CD that you can listen to on your way to work. Dunno if there is one for chinese, but you can check the library catalog. The only caveat is that you have to be a premium member at the library before you can borrow these materials. But at $21 per year its very affordable.
