petetherock Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 Thanks Phil You don't want to see the obscene positions I get to in order to improve recepttion. A yoga instructor cum climbing instructor will be mighty impressed.... :) I had a new line installed to my hi fi room but the tiny antenna c722 passed me worked better than that :( Need a better thing but not sure if a new roof-top array is the way to go. Being in a valley and far from Bukit Batok doesn't help. But I saw a discernable improvement with HD 5 over regular Ch 5 Try positioning ya antenna closer 2 e windows. DanDon Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Hi! Pete There is a shop in SLT deals with signal reception equipment. Many years ago I purchased one antenna booster from them. It is the 1st shop on the right on the 1st floor when entering from the main entrance. Sorry, can't remember the shop name.

Trust me, Bukit Batok has many blind spots. I can't use building antenna to receive aerial TV channel properly.
petetherock Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 Thanks, might go hunting for this antenna :) http://web.skycomsatellite.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_easyfaq&task=cat&catid=17&Itemid=34 Sorry wrong spelling (www.skycomsatellite.com)
petetherock Posted July 8, 2007 Author Posted July 8, 2007 After dinner yesterday and this morning, I went to some shops in the North - will go SLS in the week The most common word is HUH? a, noone knows much about HD TV STB, and these are sales staff in electronic shops b, they know even less about the antenna and what is needed to get good signals c, they do not sell them seperately nor do most of them know the antenna section d, either that or I was speaking Greek to them all the time Sigh....
htfreak Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Pete, if you head to Causeway Point, there is this shop on the 4th floor called Stereo xxx that carries the SoundTech brand of antennaes which is labelled suitable for both Analog and DVB-T use. Can give it a try and check it out there. I think some folks have previously posted about this brand in the Mediacorp HD Trial thread.
petetherock Posted July 8, 2007 Author Posted July 8, 2007 Soundtech? Great I will go to their distributors - friends :) Thanks BTW I bought my Dynaudio Centre from that shop a long time ago Pete, if you head to Causeway Point, there is this shop on the 4th floor called Stereo xxx that carries the SoundTech brand of antennaes which is labelled suitable for both Analog and DVB-T use. petetherock Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 Seems the Soundtech doesn't do HD antennas now, asked my friend's shop and Stereo, so I called Draco and I will be buying their Ant 100 model tomorrow $45 :'(
htfreak Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Technically there's no such thing as a HD antennae. All you require is one that is able to receive UHF signals with a certain gain level. Hence, those SoundTech models which can accept UHF should be able to get the signal.
petetherock Posted July 10, 2007 Author Posted July 10, 2007 Sigh, even with the top of the line Soundtech, I get zip, blame the valley....
htfreak Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Sigh, even with the top of the line Soundtech, I get zip, blame the valley.... You only have one choice left. MOVE HOUSE!!!!
petetherock Posted July 10, 2007 Author Posted July 10, 2007 Sure when I get my first million, I will build a 10m by 15m hi fi room with 2 rows of chairs. Like this: http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=50020 Right now, I have to make do with sporadic reception. Funny thing is during CSI, it was pretty clear, almost like they boosted the signal. You only have one choice left. MOVE HOUSE!!!!
