Jagdpanzer Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Enough of Hollywood fare. Wonder whether you guys have watched any good foreign dvds (with good recording a must) including those produced in Australia and UK to recommend. Some of the good foreign movies I enjoyed is Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso and Malena. The music scores, story, first-rate cinematography is a complete visual feast. And very Italian because the music and the story really blends very well. Language in italian but with English sub. Hope you guys can recommend more for a change.

Malena and Cinema Paradiso are 2 of the my all-time favourites. Here are some more of my favourites: Amores Perros (Mexico, same director as Babel) Amelie (France) Life Is Beautiful (Italy) Withnail and I (UK) Children of Heaven (Iran) Goodbye Lenin (Germany) Run Lola Run (Germany) My Sassy Girl (Korea) Kolya (Czech) Maria Full Of Grace (Columbia, Catalina Sandino Moreno is gorgeous!) ...and the list goes on, but these are some I can come up with off my head!

armoury Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Don't you really mean 'foreign movies on DVD'? And by 'foreign' you mean 'non-Hollywood'? Try The Dish. A quirky Aussie moive about the team operating and maintaining the satellite dish in Australia that was one of a number of satellite dishes around the world involved in receiving signals from Apollo 11 as it carried out the famous Moon landing when man first walked on the Moon. Stars Sam Neill, though, so you might think it's a Hollywood production (even though Neill is a Kiwi...)
