Thinking of getting myself the YSP but wondering if there are any similar products out there in the market now?

Because of space constrain in my room, the digital sound projector would be just right for me :)

Any inputs would be appreciated.

Cheers

U can consider the Philips Ambisound HTS8100.

The good thing is that it's fully integrated with built-in Faroudja 1080p dvd player & has accompanying subwoofer. I'm not sure if it requires walls to beam the sound (like the YSP). Better audition to see which appeals to you...

Correct me if I am wrong but don't such products require a specific type of room?

ie a long rectangular room with the TV and the speaker directly in the center. If the layout is not as per spec, the illusion of surround sound would be gone. I think that for most apartments which have a single space doubling as living and dining, the asymmetric layout would not allow these speakers to work.

can work, just that not as expected.

nevertheless, I saw most people putting their rear speakers at the front.......lol

just wondering the Philips, Sony and Pioneer is using the same approach, they didn't claim the need of side walls to create the surround virtually.
