ahhian Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Thinking of getting myself the YSP but wondering if there are any similar products out there in the market now? Because of space constrain in my room, the digital sound projector would be just right for me :) Any inputs would be appreciated. Cheers

The good thing is that it's fully integrated with built-in Faroudja 1080p dvd player & has accompanying subwoofer. I'm not sure if it requires walls to beam the sound (like the YSP). Better audition to see which appeals to you... http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/catalog/tree/en/sg/consumer/home_entertainment_gr_sg_consumer/dvd_home_theater_ca_sg_consumer/ce/_productId_HTS8100_59_SG_CONSUMER/SoundBar_DVD_Home_Theater+HTS8100_59?proxybuster=RA0AJEAGWREHBJ0RMRESHQFHKFSEKI5P http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/home_av/others/0,39037621,40595682p,00.htm
SiriuslyCold Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Niro. bit more expensive than Yamaha tho. I think KEF also has a 2.0 simulated surround system but dunno how much
Norman_Chan Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 You can consider Denon DHT-FS3 Quite like this after hear the demo few weeks back ...KEC selling S$1499
Doggie Howser Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Correct me if I am wrong but don't such products require a specific type of room? ie a long rectangular room with the TV and the speaker directly in the center. If the layout is not as per spec, the illusion of surround sound would be gone. I think that for most apartments which have a single space doubling as living and dining, the asymmetric layout would not allow these speakers to work.
imbest Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 can work, just that not as expected. nevertheless, I saw most people putting their rear speakers at the front.......lol just wondering the Philips, Sony and Pioneer is using the same approach, they didn't claim the need of side walls to create the surround virtually.
imbest Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 ysp-4000 on the way.......with HDMI this time round, and built in FM tuner :D
