Norman_Chan Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Wow ! Palladine 47" Full HD lcd tv selling at S$2888 ! Was told by the shop that this is the only lcd tv that is made in Korea. Model is EPT4719M .....very-very itchy .....
game_goondu Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 this one look very "sellable"... heard the saleman say out of stock some time ago and last week i check and the price has INCREASE to $2999 now.
Norman_Chan Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Anyone got this Full HD TV to give some comment ?
Norman_Chan Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 Any owner update on this Full HD LCD tv ?
YANG Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 It's is very hard to determine that whether this TV is really "made in korea" or not. PALLADINE is a company registered in both malaysia and singapore. Few months back, their staff @ Carrefoure branch tells numbers of customers that various TV sets are assembled in singapore with korean panels. Then later changed to "assembled in korea" now made in korea??? It really stirs up some doubts. Anyway, i have seen my relatives purchase, and i say it is a little comparable to LG as well as AKIRA. Can be a good buy, if their warranty policy haven't change.
technobagus Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 The signs so far (in terms of specs and even the design) points to the 47" LG panel being used: http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/10825839/Full_HD_LCD_TV_M_Series_.html http://sg.lge.com/prodmodeldetail.do?actType=search&page=1&modelCategoryId=0102&categoryId=0102&parentId=01&modelCodeDisplay=47LB7RF&model=NOTHING# http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/catalog/tree/en/sg/consumer/tv_gr_sg_consumer/ce/_activeTab_specifications/_productId_47PFL7422_98_SG_CONSUMER/widescreen_flat_TV+47PFL7422_98?proxybuster=HGPQC2AY20MXZJ0RMRCSHP3HKFSESI5P Note that the panel specs are the same as the LG & Philips 47"...... Most likely not CMO panel as the specs are different http://www.cmo.com.tw/cmo/english/product/showtv.jsp?flag=20040804204008 My Amoi 42" & Samsung 225BW are using CMO panel n I can confirm that they ARE LOUSY..... I wonder if someone knows the secret menu on the Palladine so that they can find out what screen it is using.....
weibchen Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Do they use the same panels as LCD monitors? Because LG-Philips one is known to be the best for color reproduction just that the response time is a little slower.
Norman_Chan Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 Wonder how good will this LCD when playing back SD dvd and normal TV programs ? Anyone had any ideas where can see such demo ?
Doggie Howser Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Actually brand and specs aside, one of the better looking panels I have seen is the Chimei one.
Norman_Chan Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 Referring to the 42" or 47" of Chimei ?
blackburn Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Actually brand and specs aside, one of the better looking panels I have seen is the Chimei one. this is one of the most value for money 1080p 42" lcd. currently they are giving away a 19"lcd monitor for every purchase of the panel at s$2999. with a 1080p source, the picture is beautiful
Doggie Howser Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Referring to the 42" or 47" of Chimei ? The Chimei I saw was the 42" one. Saw it in SLS (near Killeney in SLS) and in Funan (G3)
Norman_Chan Posted August 19, 2007 Author Posted August 19, 2007 Last week saw the HD5 demo screen at Challenger on this 47" Full HD LCD TV ...only one word can describe......"TERRIBLE" ...like watching pirated VCD image quality .....
dmateo Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Maybe it's being demoed using pirated dvd disk as the source ;D ;D ;D
Norman_Chan Posted August 22, 2007 Author Posted August 22, 2007 All LCD screen mounted on the wall was showing HD5 program.......
pschia Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Except for CSI, all the upconverted SD programs on HD5 looked terrible to me, especially as the 4:3 aspect ratio is flattened to fit the 16:9 screen aspect of HD5. The edges are also very jaggedly. I rather watch CH5 instead.
technobagus Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 All LCD screen mounted on the wall was showing HD5 program....... and the Palladine 47" looked the worse?
Norman_Chan Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Yes ...the Palladine look the Worst ...think at the same time the Samsung and Sharp was also on HD5 showing the same program but look better ....
imbest Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Actually brand and specs aside, one of the better looking panels I have seen is the Chimei one. Taiwan No2, mai play play. AUO panel will be cool also! well, anything stretched from this: to this: sure look like sai one.....lol! that's why I am reluctant to go for LCD leh.
technobagus Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Yes ...the Palladine look the Worst ...think at the same time the Samsung and Sharp was also on HD5 showing the same program but look better .... Hmmm, I wonder if it was because of the component input being used (lousy scaler?). Component on my Amoi 42" TV sucks too. HDMI, however was a different matter altogether. I am thinking of trying out a 1080p clip on my notebook outputing via VGA (or HDMI if I find a DVI capable notebook) on the Palladine LCD on assumption the challenger staff will allow it.
Quest88 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 that's why I am reluctant to go for LCD leh. dun see what aspect ratio has to do with choosing to buy LCD or not. almost all lcd/plasma/pj nowadays all come in 16:9. actually i'm curious abt the palladine since i use external scaler. is the panel really bad? so far see so many comments but nobody talk about color, contrast, etc.. or is it so bad that no point even raising specifics?
sonofdbn Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I think the setup has a lot to do with it. Saw a Palladine (not sure what size) yesterday at the Challenger in Tiong Bahru Plaza, and it looked better than the Sony Bravia next to it.
weibchen Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 LG panel but lousy scaler also come back to square one.
imbest Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 since the price is so cheap now, i'm wondering if it's better to invest a good AVR with solid scaler instead of going straight to a good scaler TV. which one is better in terms of PQ? Sony X series with DRC MFv2.5 vs expensive AVR with solid 1080p scaler + cheap 1080p panel? anybody tried comparing 1080p output with other 1080p TV like the Sony X series?
