Hmmm............ Interesting projector.... but DarkChip2.... I wonder what is the real on/off contrast for normal DarkChip2 projector... Nowadays seem really easy to put high figure like 10,000:1 contrast ratio then **(with ImageAI™)**.  The only exception is JVC....

No... Nothing wrong... It just that with DarkChip3 which suppose to have better black and contrast being out I dont know what is the constraint on the DarkChip2....

I saw the JVC, really impressive black and contrast...

Actually to me DC2 or DC3 - no difference lar. Its still DLP and even DC3 theoritically supposed to be able to produce deeper blacks and higher contrast - it does not really commensurate with the amount that we're going to pay here.

I dun mind getting a DC2 frankly - as long as the native resolution panel is a FullHD 1920 x 1080.

The Optoma HD 80 is HDMI 1.3  Guess JVC is HDMI 1.2 and will need a hardware upgrade if you need HDMI 1.3 in the near future. IMO, we can expect the Optoma HD 80, being DLP,  to project sharper images with more natural colours and at 1,100 Ansi lumens, is brighter than the JVC.

In one HK magazine, the HD80 is listed at HK$32,800 which is S$6,500?

Soon...so I guess Jag you're in this time huh?

Just when I thought its gonna take a couple of years more before I can see a more affordable 1080p DLP Projector - and just when I gonna spent more $$$$ on a HDMI 1.3a specs AVR - damn everything all come at once and my wishlist all FULFILLED before August this year?!!!  :o :o :o

Really buay tahan lehz...

Ya, agree its quite a long throw...... maybe not so suitable for me also......

Oh well, least DLP is showing signs of good pricing....... hopefully, there will be alternatives since the pricing for 1080p DLP is even more agressive than in the days of 720p fight.

Aiyoh...the throw distance is really abit to long liaoz...may not be suitable for me as well. The throw distance is pretty much like BenQ W1000 I've demo'ed at KEC Sound awhile back...
