I'm currently using a Sony Bravia X. PQ wise, it's out of this world, esp for gaming and watching DVDs and BDs. For normal SDTV, you also get a pretty good quality. Price wise, of course it's quite steep, but my wife fell in love with the design of the TV, so it made my task easier :D

X-series is under my consideration too...neighborhood shop is quoting me ard at high 4...

whereas those HD ready series from Sharp and Sony V series are in the mid 3 or less region.

My main usage will be TV esp when EPL season resume in Aug...plus DVD watching. My mind says "HD ready should be enough"..but heart said " go for the x series or other full HD model.."  !!

ic..cos the official retail price was $5999 when I asked back in early May, the shop owner just slashed abt 16 to 18 %..probably ard 4900 to 5000. ( nett price inclusive of transportation)..but she told me dun buy first...there will be another round of price slashing..with more Full HD model coming in...

at the same time. HN was offering abt $700 of vouchers which can be deducted immediately...meaning the price will be 5299. that's why I think 4900 or below is a possible figure.

The lower prices of X200 are likely due to the coming of X300 and X350 series. I expect these new models to feature MotionFlow (100/120 Hz frame rates) and x.v.color support (/w HDMI v1.3a). IMHO, the real improvement is in the higher frame-rate which will eliminate motion blurr.. great for fast action scenes and sports (e.g. soccer).

The more affordable W300 series should also be available soon.

Sony is really milking the x.v.color support situation since there is no source providing it unless you get one of their latest overhyped and not FULL HD (1440x1080i) video cameras with x.v. support as well.

Save your money on HD LCDs and go for the 50' Plasmas.  You get better PQ on both TV programs and SD/HD movies, and bigger viewing screen  too!  With both Panny and Pioneers' going around $4,000 you won't and can't go wrong... ;D

Unfortunately the 50" Pioneers are still priced above the 6k mark in the market.  Only the 50" Panny can be obtained at the 4k price that you stated.

Bro, if you can accept a 40", then a 50" does not make any significant difference in terms of physical size.. :)
