jfk Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Hi all, Can anyone advise (especially those who have played with various speaker cables) on what speaker cable i can go for to give my set up a warmer sound, especialy for music. Set-up: 1. Triangle Antal floorstand 2. Panasonic XR55 receiver (bi-amp and dual amp mode) 3. Denon 1730 DVD player via coaxial (belden) 4. currently using Straight Wire Quartet biwire cable - which is a rather entry level for Straigh Wire. XR55 gives good clarity in bi-amp, dual-amp mode. I can immediately hear the difference as compared to normal cabling mode But i want to explore upgrading the speaker cable to provide a warmer sound Would speaker cable be the best fix without costing too much? Or should i spend the money in getting a dedicated CD player for music? Thanks
kzone Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 If u like warm sound, the triangle is not the speaker to get. It can sound very very bright in some system. I've not heard a stereo setup driven by the panny before but given their individual characteristics, I'm sure I would not be able to stand its brightness. Used to have a pair of Triangle comete, "cured" the brightness by changing its internal wiring. If that's too drastic for u and wanna try some low cost speaker cables as a start, can try the canare 4S11 (abt $5/m). Its not so sharp sounding... As for CDP, I had quite good result with a TS Lim modded marantz CD63, about $450 used.
jfk Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 Is there any shop that i can go to that help to change internal cabling?
Guest jonlee Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Taralabs RSC prime. U will be amazed how smooth ur triangles will sound with these cables. I used to have triangle titus (the very first version) as well.
jfk Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 Who carries taralabs? Is Taralabs RSC prime expensive? Any indicative price / metre?

kzone Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Who carries taralabs? Is Taralabs RSC prime expensive? Any indicative price / metre? I got mine used for abt $2xx / pair.I think asia sound carried it last time..
Guest jonlee Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Kzone, I only remember helping u to drill ur wall US outlet. Not sure whether did I recommend the taralabs to u. I thought u were full yba cables? The rsc prime 500 single wire version used to be selling for $30/m. The bire wire version is $60/m.
kzone Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 At that time, was only using single run YBA. Wanna try biwiring so bought the tara bi-wire. Now using 2 runs of YBA ... n thanks for the lesson on the polarity, really makes a difference...
IwishIwasToneDeaf Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I have heard both the Panny and the Triangles. To me both are bright sounding components and sounded lean when paired together. They're not exactly meant for each other in stereo mode. :-\ Cabling MOST PROBABLY would NOT be able to solve your problem. A change of either components mentioned above would. But if you must try, I would recommend you the Canares from LHS. Or if you're able to find Klotz cables (in the resale market), they're on the warmer side too. Taralabs you could try the entry level Biwire series which was about $20/m (less bang for buck compared to Canares) the last I had them years ago. Hope this helps.
domj Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Cardas Crosslink cables maybe an option too. Find them to be on the warm side and fleshes out the mids.
