Guest CASH Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 hi guys, wondering where can i find someone to mod my pioneer cd player (PD-S901). its 15 years old and still performing well. just feel the urge to have it modded. thanks n cheer's! ;) :D
hifiluv Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 beautiful player u hv there, yes u can contact Sky Audio at B Timah Plaza (tel 6762 5890), TS Lim is the man. the other option is James from Effective Audio, tel 62431649 i hv met with people who have hv their sets modded by them and very happy with their work. :)
2100 Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Your 901 is really old, not that useful to mod and expect to get more returns than a current set. Get a new set.
kwhv Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Another place you should look at is AHFartaudio. http://www.ahfartaudio.com/ I think they do mods too. I agree with 2100 dat the 901 is quite old and not sure is it worth modding. However, I feel that it has a good transport. Why not add an external DAC? You can also check out AHFart's NOS (non-oversampling) DAC. Better still, bring your 901 and try out the DAC. Just MHO, Cheers! :)
pugimel Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 not worth it to mod it. try pioneer dvd player instead, it is more rewarding.
DanDon Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 is it worth to mod marantz dv7600 dvdp? any of you modded your dvdp and can share your views on SQ and PQ?
kwhv Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 is it worth to mod marantz dv7600 dvdp? any of you modded your dvdp and can share your views on SQ and PQ? I modded my pioneer DVDp. Ever since I got the modded DVDp, my Sony SCD-777ES SACD player have been reduced to SACD duties and have been collecting dust. It's difficult to describe b'cos it's too subjective. Wat is transparent to some, may be bright to others and wat is sweet to some, may be dull for others.
hifiluv Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 hv to agree with u there, sound is still v subjective. a yr ago, bought the Marantz CD5400 with intention to go for full modd, but after hearing a loan set, changed my mind, went back to NAD cdp, becos i just like the NAD sound, even a entry level model, again it may be a Jedi mind trick, :P yet i hv come across people who are heads n heels over their modded sets, whether its by TS Lim or James. so its to each his own again. ;)
DanDon Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 thanks to kwhv & hifiluv for sharing. :) i total agree that sound is subjective to individual liking. probably i shld enjoy wat i hv now until i'm tired of the sound and then decide to mod or not. ;)
lchang Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Hi! CASH, I have modded this player before, If you have lived with this pioneer player for a long time, modding it would be worth while if you are a true Pioneer die hard fan. I am not in the HIFI business, just another die hard fan of Pioneer, would be more than happy to share with you what to mod in your player !!! Contact me at my mail: cyorkliang@yahoo.com.sg

I have a Pio 515 dvdp that I would like to have modded... Thanks
