Just bought a Philiphs DVD player ,this one does not support DTS sound format .

I'm wondering if my Pioneer Amp  can help to decode DTS and send out  sound to speaker ?

My Pioneer Amp does support DTS .

How should I do ?

Amp and DVD player is connected by a HDMI cable .

Thanks advance.

The Philip DVD player should not able to read DTS audio, so there wouldn't be any sound send to Pio Amp though it supports DTS. That's why both DVD player and Amp must support DTS in order to enjoy DTS audio.

alexjp - have you tried enabling the HDMI to pass bittream - even if the Philips player cannot decode DTS it should be able to output DTS on HDMI so the receiver can decode

wow ? How to do that ?

Totally no idea.

Could you please give some advices ? thanks buddy.

Dear Alex, its on the setup option of your DVD Player. You have to access the Setup option first. Cycle through the options till you come to something like HDMI Audio Output or equivalent...there should be a few options like PCM or Bitstream. Choose 'Bitstream'.

Shouldn't be that hard. Try it.

Hi, guys.

For my dvd player , it does have an audio setting of

"Digital out", after set it to "All" (there is no bitstream such thing),

DTS still dosen't work ,Just a pop sound at the very begining ,

after that .... silence .

Did not try the other setting of "PCM only" .don't know if this works.

:(

Anyway ,I notcied that all my DVD videos are in digital dolby format.

Only one test disc contains some clips with DTS audio.

So, maybe DTS is not so important right ?
