If I remember correctly, BOTH are FullHD panels, right?

Isn't this like a 50% off regular rates?

Strange.. G7 now cost more than P7. IIRC, P7series are usually priced higher than those of G7 (of similar size) due to their piano-gloss finish.

Oops, mix up..  Must have jumbled them while trying to regurgitate all those prices from memory.  BTW, that glossy table console is supposedly valued at $1499.  Hence, if you less off the bench and the Wii, you are practically paying only $6859 for a 52" Full HD LCD TV.  Too bad the P7 series is assembled in Malaysia while the G7 is from Japan.  The P7 matches much better with the console.

Thanks Jeff

Just FYI, I visited Merdeka just now - had dinner at Fatty Weng

The Panny is 3999 there

Sharp LCds - same price

Pioneer about the same too, so make sure you are not pressured into a 'show pressure cooker' decision

:)

I look with envy at the code free E1 though, but see what SLS shops will charge for it.

Merdeka SLS is very friendly nowadays.

They have 1 branch in IMM last time, salesman very bad attitude

Got some item from them after a few visit.

One of the sales guy in the TV section very knowledgeable and give good advice.

Going to check out the E1 price from him.

Hey Jeff

I am really excited about the Sharp if they allow trade in of the console, so can I get the TV for $6859 ?

Thanks

P

Thks for the info. But' I'm still a little apprehensive abt Sharp 8th gen LCDs due to the banding issue that has been widely discussed in AVSforum and even HK's AVBuzz.

At this point, the flat-panel at the top of my list is Samsung LA46M81BX.. primary due to the better color reproduction and auto-wall mount, which is very useful for my long-ish living+dinning room.

Guess I can still tahan a little more and wait till end of the year for Pioneer's 8th Gen.. hopefully they'll support 1080p24/25Hz input.

Hi Jeff

So can we unbundle and get just the Sharp for a better deal?

Thanks

Sorry no ideas.  You may want to visit the PC Show tomorrow and see what they say.

Cheers

Going tomorrow, if I get a reasonable price on a Panny or 7G Pioneer I won't wait for the 8G Pioneer.

Somehow the 24 fps business still bugs me plenty though.

So Pete, the PC Show has closed for 50 minutes already.  What was your final decision?

Walked all over, asked about for nice deals, display sets etc

Last stop, I capitulated, and hang around Best Denki, looked pitiful and finally....

Got the 507 display set (4day old) for <5k. It was significantly better than the Panny PV 70 and even the PV 700, so I bit the bullet and didn't wait for the 8 gen panel.

But if you can wait, the specs on the new Pioneer are touted to be much better?

BTW the Sharp 46" full HD was 6k with console, 5.5k without

52" was 8.k without console, for that price I would have kept the console.

Samsung M81 46" was 6k with freebies.
