For a brand new speaker @ 1k only , i seriously feel u will hav a hard time getting a decent set to match ur Naim combo, without undermining d combo's potential........ :-\

Unless of coz , u get a good deal used set ;)

Good luck in ur search ::)

I hav a friend who uses Nait 5i , Rotel Cdp, with a PMC FB1+ speakers.....

Detailed, Transparent, Musical ............

When he played d 1812 orchestra piece, it was Glorious :o

If you can find a pair in good condition, the classic Epos ES11 with open-frame stands. Failing which you can try the newer M12. I do not know the used price.

My personal choice will be partner with Living Voice Auditorium floor standers. Easy to drive, very good PRaT and fast leading edges. They should be around $2k to $3k used. Above your budget, but then, you save on stands.

Your Naims deserve better than $1k speakers.

Without being familiar with Naim, I agree with the other comments that you are spending too much on electronics and too little on speakers. How much the Naim set cost? About $4k in total? So assuming you have 5k to spend on amp, cdp and speakers.

Give us some more info on your room, music etc and perhaps some alternatives will come out.

If you already have the Naims or can get them 2nd hand at a good price and is fixed with $1k for speakers, I had some Mission 752 Freedoms for many years which were quite good. Sold them off here for about $600 a couple of year ago and for $600 I think they were very good!

Consider the new epos m12i. Seems like they have gone back to their roots of a single capacitor crossover which should bring about a more coherent and engaging presentation.

Try to look for some 2nd hand Neat speakers.

Naim + Neat =  :D

I second that. I've heard the Naim and Neat combo a couple of times and they have great synergy.

Epos m12i should be a good match too. And now that they are made in China, the price has gotten cheaper.

Neat has a sweeter but peaky treble. Some may not like it. Better to listen first with your naims before commit when buying used.

Some years ago, I heard the amp paired with the LV auditoriums at Soundscape and it was indeed pratty with good thumping bass. In fact, I've recommeded the same Naim pair (which was on discount recently) and the auditorium to my friend recently. He bought the Naims and a used pair of LV Avatar (one model higher than the Auditorium) at a real good deal.

Do pay a visit to Soundscape to hear the LV first. It might be worth your while to stretch your budget at this stage if there's a used pair around than to go through the hassle of selling your 1k speakers in the future.
